In the region, Katainen visited the heavily flooded area of Karvia.

In the upper part of Karvianjoki River the water levels should begin to fall Tuesday night, but downstream near Isojärvi Lake, Poosjärvi Lake as well as in Pohjanjoki River and Merikarvianjoki River, which flow into the sea, floods are only set to peak in a few days’ time.   

The Prime Minister happened to be in the Satakunta region on a tour for the upcoming municipal elections.

As visiting flooded areas was not part of the Prime Minister’s original travel plan, he and his security men had to buy rubber boots on the way.
