Finland's Ministry of Justice granted Turkey an extradition request in October of 2022, reports the Finnish news agency STT, citing a ministry decision.

The individual had previously been found guilty of robbery in Turkey, according to the ministry.

Finland extradited three people to Turkey between 2019 and 2022.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said Sweden and Finland must extradite up to 130 "terrorists" to Turkey for its legislature to approve their Nato bids.

Turkey has officially requested the deportation of 17 people from Finland since 2012. Apart from one pending case that Finland received at the end of last year, all of the requests have been resolved.

In November, Finland turned down a Turkish extradition request. Ankara wanted Finland to extradite a man convicted in Turkey of belonging to an armed terrorist group.

Finnish officials have emphasised that extradition requests submitted by Turkey are assessed in accordance with international law and Finnish legislation. That said, for Finland to grant an extradition request based on a criminal offence, the crime must carry at least one year's imprisonment in Finland.

The Justice Ministry's extradition decisions showed that the individuals deported to Turkey were not linked to terrorism, with two of the three cases involving sexual crimes.

Ankara has linked extraditions of alleged terrorists to its support for Finland and Sweden's Nato membership bids, which require unanimous approval by all Nato members. This week, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that the US is urging the last remaining Nato members—Turkey and Hungary—to ratify Finland and Sweden's bids to join the alliance.
