Poland's newly elected President Karol Nawrocki arrived in Helsinki on Tuesday for a one-day working visit hosted by Finnish President Alexander Stubb.
As expected, the two heads of state's discussions centred on their countries' security policies, particularly in regard to Russia's ongoing war in Ukraine.
In that vein, at a joint press conference alongside Stubb, Nawrocki said that Russian President Vladimir Putin was prepared to attack other countries besides Ukraine.
Both Nawrocki and Stubb have exceptionally good personal relationships with US President Donald Trump. Nawroki, who has only been in office for a month, has already met with in Washington with Trump, who endorsed him in Poland's election in June.
He said that Trump understands how big a threat Putin poses, adding that "we don't trust Putin".
Echoing a similar sentiment, Stubb said more pressure needs to be placed on Russia than is currently the case.
During the press conference, the Polish president returned to the topic of his relationship with Trump, while criticising Poland's Prime Minister, Donald Tusk.
Two years ago, Tusk claimed that Trump was a "Russian asset", a position which he later denied having suggested. On Tuesday, Nawrocki called that sort of speech "insulting" to the president of a foreign country.
It is exceptional for presidents to criticise their own prime ministers while visiting other countries.
