Two aircraft on their way from Serbia to St Petersburg, Russia landed at Helsinki Airport early on Saturday morning, according to Finland's Coast Guard.
The planes made the stop in Finland because St Petersburg airport was closed, due to recent attacks by Ukraine on Russian ports along the Gulf of Finland.
The Gulf of Finland Coast Guard District announced the matter on social media site X.
"After refueling, one aircraft was able to continue its journey, while the other remained at Helsinki-Vantaa [airport] due to a technical issue," the post read in Finnish.
Finland has felt other impacts caused by the Russia-Ukraine war spreading close to its borders.
On Friday, the Finnish Defence Forces stepped up monitoring of Finland's territory. The Air Force scrambled fighter jets over southern Finland due to the situation.
On Thursday the Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI) recorded extremely poor air quality in South Karelia. Meteorologists said the worsened air quality was due to fires at Russian ports in addition to air particles travelling to Finland from central parts of the continent.
The Gulf of Finland Coast Guard District also reported a similar landing in Helsinki of a Russia-bound jet from Egypt on Wednesday, due to the situation.
