People in Finland who are in debt enforcement proceedings owed an average 28,000 euros as of the end of last year, according to Statistics Finland.
There were around 256,000 people in Finland in debt enforcement at the end of 2025, about three percent fewer than the year before, the agency reported on Tuesday.
During all of 2025, a total of nearly 610,000 people in the country were in debt enforcement.
The average amount of debt — 28,000 euros — was roughly 2,300 euros more than in 2024.
Sixty-one percent of the debtors were men, and the remaining 39 percent were women.
Companies and other organisations under debt enforcement proceedings carried an average debt of 89,000 as of the end of last year, roughly 39,000 euros more than in 2024.
