A passenger plane travelling from Egypt to St Petersburg landed at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport on Tuesday night, according to the Gulf of Finland Coast Guard.
The diversion was caused by the temporary closure of St Petersburg’s Pulkovo Airport.
The aircraft was later able to continue its journey.
According to the Coast Guard, passengers and crew remained on board during the stop in Helsinki.
Pulkovo Airport has been closed multiple times during Russia’s war in Ukraine due to reported drone activity.
Similar diversions have taken place at Helsinki Airport in recent months involving flights bound for St Petersburg.
