Aoi, a first year in high school used to prefer indoor hobbies, but has started to become interested in mountaineering as well. It was her childhood friend Hinata who introduced her to the beauty of this outdoor activity.

Taking it one step at a time, they set up a four-person tent in Hinata's yard, to then spend the night outside, together with their mountaineering friends: the younger Kokona, and their senior Kaede. Since camping alone in the mountains was vetoed by Aoi's mother. Cooking the rice and curry starts the outdoor sleepover on a good note. And the next morning's sunrise is spectacular, and it might be even prettier from Mount Fuji, or so Aoi dreams.

This kindles their desire to camp on a real mountain. Hinata suggests surprising Aoi with a more ambitious mountaineering trip to a mountain with a view of Mount Fuji. They decide on Mt. Mitsutouge (1786m). And so the following Sunday the four girls are off to their next mountain...

If you're looking for a slice of life with cute young girls having fun together, a few nice landscapes, no hard drama, and almost no plot, look no further. With an extra bonus point for originality since their school is barely shown.

The series is still far from perfect. Some episodes drag on as if they were season 1's 5 minutes episodes stretched into 15 minutes.
The two 100% ecchi episodes were completely out of place and rather infuriating.
And, though the series tries hard to be cute and sweet, sometimes its emptiness overwhelmed me.

Lastly, be warned that mountain climbing is not the core of the series: the focus is obviously on the girls. They spend more time chatting and shopping than climbing mountains. When they do, they walk on over-marked paths and never get off the beaten tracks. They have no interest in the wilderness, they want to reach the top, marvel at the view, and make memories together. Even Yuru Camp was slightly more interested in nature.

Very cute show. Wasn't sure if it would expand well into a longer season (and longer episodes) but it did.
