Tags bicyclingBicycling, also called cycling or biking, is the use of bicycles for transport, recreation, exercise or sport. People engaged in bicycling are referred to as bicyclists, cyclists, or bikers., mangaManga is the lifeblood that drives the anime industry. Everything and its mother is based on manga. However! There are exceptions where the manga was not the basis for the anime. See also manhua and manhwa., school lifeSince a large part of the anime audience still takes part in school life or is visiting college, it is only natural to choose a setting the audience can identify with, be it elementary, middle, or high school. For the older viewers a college setting with more mature real-life problems is appropriate. And since clubs take up so much time in the lives of students, these are obviously also important., shounenIn the context of manga and associated media, shounen, literally meaning "youth" and often also specifically "boy", refers to a male audience roughly between the ages of 10 and 18., sportsSports anime revolves around a recreational physical activity or skill. In addition they often adhere to certain genre conventions, the emphasis on training and practice in preparation for competition, characters desire for self improvement, and pursuit of a specific goal., universitySince college/university students are typically at least eighteen years old, with stories covering mature everyday life topics, you will find the college setting quite often in seinen and josei anime. - [similar]

The story follows Kurata Ami, a first year college student with no special qualities. One day she happens to notice someone riding a folding bike, immediately falls in love with it, and uses all her savings to buy one. She eventually gets introduced to the world of long-distance bicycling and road racer bikes, and she forms a cycling team called Fortuna with four other female college students from the same school. Their goal is to ride in a "brevet" or a team based long-distance event called a "flèche".

Love for bikes and love for bicycles. Both have an all (cute) female cast, both focus a lot on actual riding and sceneries. In both cases we see the narration through the eyes of a beginner discovering a new world.

this anime (for me) besides the blatant showcase for some extra (unnecessary) products, and a justification of why the hell some frames cost as much as a small car (which they shouldn't!). It was a nice story. one I think that if you actually like cycling can relate.

most people don't like cycling because they want a trophy. they just want to go on their own power to a lot of places appreciating the views and everything. or having the trill of the ride. and this is the anime that reminds you of those little joys and still enjoy if you are not an actual cyclist (yet)

There really aren't many cycling anime out there and event then, most are shounen focusing on tournaments. As a cyclist I couldn't stand them because everybody always seemed to get a bike handed to them. There was no special lingo or anything bike related at all. I'm giving Long Riders a 10, because it managed to remind me why I picked up cycling, how much know-how comes with it and how fun it is.

Less than half way thru this, I can recommend it. The description really says it all, you might think it boring. NOT!! You get to watch a girl who gets into cycling. She makes a small mistake of picking wrong kind of cycle at first. (budget constrained) She with her close friend, meets new friends. And go's riding the roads and hills of Japan.

Bottom line: There is no conflict, battles or drama. But not boring at all, it's a fun watch.

Cute series so far. Kind of a knockoff of Bakuon!! but with bicycles instead of motorcycles. New rider in a group of experts. Full of good tips for newbies. It unfortunately only take them 3 and a half minutes to screw up. The moment I saw her rear cassette spinning with the tire even though the petals and chain were stopped, I had to wonder if the people who animated this have ever even seen a bicycle. The part with the energy paste was spot on though. That stuff is like eating flavored toothpaste but when you're doing double or triple centuries, you don't care. Over all I give it an 7.5 out of 10.

clothingClothing is fiber and textile material worn on the body.

bib-and-brace overalls (1)Bib-and-brace overalls are loose, sturdy trousers, with a bib or biblike piece to which shoulder straps are attached to hold them up. Originally worn over other trousers to protect them, as by factory workers or farmers, overalls are now often used as standalone legwear. In US English the term overall is used. Some people call an overall a "pair of overalls" by analogy with "pair of trousers".bunnysuit (1)A costume that resembles a rabbit of which there are two main types. In anime the Playboy Bunny version is usually shown.cheongsam (1)A traditional one-piece Chinese dress for women. It is often accompanied by a pair of hair buns.cycling shorts (5)Cycling shorts (also known as bike shorts, bicycling shorts or knicks) are short, skin-tight legwear designed to improve comfort and efficiency while cycling. The term "spats" often used to describe cycling shorts in anime is actually a general term for leggings in Japan. Cycling shorts are designed to be worn alone with no undergarments, or as an undergarment. Shorts made from several panels (or cuts of fabric) fit better, but cost more. Short-legged elastic tights commonly worn as street wear, under school uniform skirts or for gymnastics and ballet practice, are sometimes also referred to as bike shorts, but they are typically simpler and lighter garments than those worn by cyclists and generally lack the chamois or faux-chamois lining. These shorts are also used for football, rugby and various other sports, underneath `normal` shorts for warmth.denim skirt (1)A denim skirt, also called jean skirt or jeans skirt, is a skirt made of denim, the same material as blue jeans.dress (2)A dress is an item of clothing, usually worn by females, which both covers the upper part of the body and includes a skirts below the waist.high heels (1)High heels are a type of shoe in which the heel, compared to the toe, is significantly higher off of the ground. These shoes make the wearer taller, accentuating the calf muscle and the length of the leg overall. There are many types of high heels, which come in different styles, colours, and materials, and can be found all over the world. They have significant cultural and fashionable meanings attached to them, which have been largely shaped by historical contexts over the past thousand years.loose sleeves (1)This character wears an outfit with sleeves that aren`t attached to a top, instead they`re strapped onto the arm close to the shoulder.maid dress (1)The dress of a woman or girl employed to do domestic work; precisely termed as French maid costume.minidress (1)A one-piece dress, with a hemline well above the knees similar to a miniskirt. Often worn together with knee boots.miniskirt (2)A miniskirt, sometimes hyphenated as mini-skirt, is a skirt with a hemline well above the knees, shorter than the wearer`s arm.pantyhose (3)Pantyhose are sheer, close-fitting legwear, covering the body from the waist to the feet.polo shirt (1)A polo shirt, also known as a golf shirt and tennis shirt, is a T-shaped shirt with a collar, typically a two- or three-button placket, and an optional pocket. Polo shirts are usually made of knitted cloth (rather than woven cloth), usually piqué cotton or, less commonly, silk, merino wool, or synthetic fibers.school uniform (1)A type of uniform worn in Japanese schools (called "seifuku" in Japanese), generally high school age or younger. They can vary considerably; commonly, females will wear a sailor uniform (modelled off the British Royal Navy uniforms in 1920) and males will often wear a "gakuran", which is a dark button-up uniform modelled off Prussian army uniforms. But expect to see a substantial amount of variety.short shorts (2)Short shorts, or cut-offs, are shorts that are cut very high on the leg. They have an inseam of just a few inches, or even less.shorts (2)Shorts are a garment worn over the pelvic area, circling the waist and splitting to cover the upper part of the legs, sometimes extending down to the knees but not covering the entire length of the leg.skirt (2)A skirt is a tube- or cone-shaped piece of clothing that hangs from the waist and covers the legs partially or fully. Skirts are often seen as garments for women, but exceptions exist. In anime, they`re almost always worn by women, generally as school uniform or workplace garments, and a man with one will likely be cross-dressing. Skirts that go below the knee are usually associated with strict rules and at times with winter, though even in winter anime schoolgirls in miniskirts can be found.t-shirt (1)A T-shirt, or tee shirt, is a style of fabric shirt named after the T shape of its body and sleeves. Traditionally it has short sleeves and a round neckline, known as a crew neck, which lacks a collar. T-shirts are generally made of a stretchy, light and inexpensive fabric and are easy to clean.thighhighs (1)Thighhighs or stockings are a close-fitting, variously elastic hosiery piece that fully cover and extend above the knees, or partly cover the knees, leaving only the thigh area exposed. Generally, "thighhighs" refers to stockings that stay up by the use of built-in elastic. In contrast, "stockings" is the general term and/or refers to the kind of stockings that need a suspender belt / garter belt. Hosiery that rise up to, but not including, the knee, or slightly thereunder, are knee highs.waitress uniform (2)A uniform or dress meant to be worn by waitresses.

fingerless gloves (5)Fingerless gloves or "glovelettes" are garments worn on the hands which resemble regular gloves in most ways, except that the finger columns are half-length and opened, allowing the top-half of the wearer`s fingers to be shown. This provides much of the warmth retention without negatively impacting dexterity.gloves (5)A glove is a garment covering the whole hand.hair ribbon (1)Hair ribbons are ribbons used both as hair decorations and as hair ties. Hair ribbons are often tied into bows. They may also be present as part of a hairband. A hairband that includes ribbons or has bows along its length should be also tagged hair ribbon. For a similar band worn across the forehead primarily for athletic purposes, see sweatband.ribbon tie (1)A ribbon tie is a ribbon used to tie the collar of a shirt, blouse, or other clothing top. This means that the ribbon, with or without a bow loop, is tying a collar that is cut close to the neck (i.e. not a low-cut collar); otherwise, the ribbon is just a common case of ribbons on clothes. Please see the full description for more detailed instructions on when to apply or not apply this tag.wrist cuffs (1)An accessory worn encircling the wrist, made of material such as fabric, leather, fur, or metal. Wrist cuffs look like wristbands but with frills and what look like detached cuffs that would be found on a shirt`s sleeve.

They are bigger than medium breasts and smaller than huge breasts. Note: This tag has many anime/character entries that need to be moved to the new medium and huge breasts tags. Please add the appropriate tag and remove this one from the corresponding anime/character afterwards.long legs (1)Although this is mainly a trait of tall characters, with enough exposure of bare or even clothed (preferably skin-tight) legs, even a short character may apply.milf (1)A milf is any woman who is no longer a young adult but is also not elderly yet, normally of an age between the late thirties and the late forties or early fifties, who looks rather youthful and sexy. Originally, the term required the woman in question to have children, as can be seen in the origin of the term, the abbreviation of "mother I`d like to fuck", but this is no longer the case.small breasts (6)Small breasts (flat chested) are breasts that would be considered below the average size for real life medium breasts.

Like with a single hairbun and a ponytail, double hairbuns may be at the base of twintails. Stereotypical Chinese females are often seen wearing a cheongsam and a pair of hairbuns.
