Watanabe Chuumei was born August 19, 1925 in Aichi Prefecture, Japan. He was a music composer and arranger. He graduated from Meiwa High School and went to University of Tokyo (Toudai) where he majored in Psychology.
He was a well known composer active for 50 years. His work included composition and arrangement for many popular artists, as well as composition work for film and TV drama. Another major source of his work were anime series.
While being mostly known under the name Watanabe Chuumei (ちゅうめい), his real name is actually read as Michiaki.
His son is the film and anime music composer
Watanabe Toshiyuki.
He passed away on June 23, 2022, due to heart failure.
