Scrapes Mexico's IFT (Instituto Federal de Telecomunicaciones) spectrum licitaciones and satellite orbital position records from the official IFT Espectro Radioeléctrico public registry.

What it does

The actor crawls the IFT's public spectrum licitaciones index and extracts structured records for each licitación, including:

  • Licitación number (e.g., IFT-13)
  • Full title and service classification (satelital, radiodifusion, acceso_inalambrico, etc.)
  • Concession type (FSS, MSS, BSS, Servicio Complementario Terrestre, etc.)
  • Frequency band in MHz (e.g., "2483.5 – 2495 MHz") extracted from the official IFT metadata
  • Orbital position label (e.g., "113.0°W") where present in the metadata
  • Year of the licitación
  • Status (licitada, cancelada, desierta)
  • Source URL — the canonical IFT page for the record
  • Document links — pipe-separated list of downloadable PDFs (Acuerdo, Convocatoria, Bases, Apéndices)
  • Meta description — the official IFT description containing detailed spectrum parameters

Use cases

  • Satellite operators and regulatory teams monitoring Mexico's orbital slot assignments (AmericaMovil/MEXSAT, SES, Eutelsat, ViaSat, Hughes)
  • ISPs evaluating Mexico landing rights and spectrum availability
  • Legal and compliance teams tracking IFT licitación status and document archives
  • Researchers analyzing Mexico's spectrum policy (second-largest LATAM satellite market)
  • Cross-border US operators at 113.0°W monitoring IFT activity

Input

FieldTypeDescriptionDefault
maxItemsintegerMaximum number of licitaciones to scrape (0 = no limit)50

Data source

All data is sourced from the official IFT public registry at www.ift.org.mx/industria/espectro-radioelectrico. The IFT (Instituto Federal de Telecomunicaciones) is Mexico's independent telecom and broadcasting regulator, established by constitutional mandate in 2013.

Notes

  • The IFT listing is protected by Imperva (transient classification). The actor uses single-concurrency requests to respect the site's crawl-delay policy.
  • Orbital position data is extracted from IFT metadata where explicitly published. For satellite licitaciones, frequency band and orbital slot details often appear in the meta description.
  • PDF documents linked in document_links contain the full technical specifications (Acuerdo, Bases, Apéndices A–E). The actor provides links but does not parse PDF content.
  • The IFT publishes approximately 1–3 spectrum licitaciones per year. The current index covers IFT-1 through IFT-13 (2013–2024).
