Magnum Match
Made in 31 days for Bad Ideas Game Jam 2026
Headphones recommended for a tactical advantage! (there's directional audio (actually, don't bother because there's a bug where the audio completely cuts out once you get to the second level))
Have you ever looked at the reload function in a video game and thought, "This is too simple." to yourself? Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have a dexterity and intelligence test every time you needed to shoot? If you have, this game is for you. If you haven't... this game is still for you. Magnum Match is a match-3 first person shooter. The way it works, you have a revolver called the Match Magnum (cool naming convention, I know), and it doesn't take bullets. Instead, it requires you to match 3 cubes vertically or horizontally, which gives it a charge that it can fire. However, the Bureau Of Xenocontrol, also known as the B.O.X., is here to make sure that any uncontrolled variables in their jurisdiction (that includes the Match Magnum) are very quickly controlled or, if worse comes to worst, destroyed. So, what do you do? It's simple. You have to Get Outside the B.O.X. ('s jurisdiction).
CONTROLS
- W/A/S/D to move
- R to reload
- RMB to fire and drag blocks for matching
- E to press the big red button
As always, I recommend downloading the game if you can, as the browser version isn't always the best, but I don't know if the Linux or MacOS versions will work (my laptop runs on Windows) but Construct 3 told me it was built for each of those operating systems, so... good luck. I know the Windows version works, though.
This is my first Game Jam submission! I made this with Construct 3. If you know how Construct 3 handles 3D and all that jazz, you'll know how much of an achievement this was for me to make, especially in just a month.

For some reason after beating the first checkpoint all game sound vanishes. I even tried reloading my webpage and after beating checkpoint one again the sound went again.
Absolutely adore this one! Super fun mechanics, the dynamic of shooting and puzzling is quite addictive, and when you start getting in the flow of reloading the game really starts feeling good
