I am en-N and es-2. For the forseeable future I will be less active on Wikimedia projects. E-mail at Special:Emailuser/Iamunknown is the best means of communication. Talk archive is thataway. --Iamunknown 06:45, 8 May 2007 (UTC)

Note to self (and others): I need to do maintenance work on the images I uploaded! (Add categories, create a gallery, fix up the errors, etc.) --22:24, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

Flickr mail

I don't see an email link here. Do I have to create an account at flickr to be able to use it? Picaroon (t) 02:12, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

I guess I am unsure if Shiraz has e-mail enabled ... but, ya, you would need a Flickr account. That will be good to have to be a flickr reviewer, because then you can leave thank you notes in the comments of the image pages at Flickr.  :) If his e-mail is not there, you could try leaving a comment. Hope this helps. --Iamunknown 03:13, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

Hmmmh, no, I hadn't (I don't always put the images I review on my watchlist, only the ones that interest me). I suppose we could try a deletion request and see where that goes.
Happy holidays,

Thanks for filing the request. We'll see how it goes. Arria Belli | parlami 13:32, 25 December 2007 (UTC)

Squishycows on Flickr

[edit]

There is a post on the Tucows company blog that I think explains the situation:

"Squishycow photos continue to pile up on Flickr. This week we’re featuring the work of Kayla Fleming who posted a couple of really nice shots of our friend around the offices at the hosting company where she works. I’ll admit to being somewhat jealous - Orlando looks nice and warm, while here in Toronto we’re already fighting through snow and ice. We’ll be showcasing more squishycow photos over the coming weeks. If you’d like to see your shots on our blog, add your photos to Flickr with the tag squishycow and then add the photo to the group, Squishycows in the wild. We’ll post a new photo every week or so and link to your photostream."

There is a whole genre of photos on Flickr featuring Squishycows. What has apparently happened is that Jason Gulledge is the creator of the original photo and he uploaded it to Flickr on January 31, 2007. Tucows saw the photo, liked it, and decided to use in the story accompanying their Press Release on August 7, 2007. Tucows is actually at fault for using the photo without attribution and Jason Gulledge is the injured party. I have already left a message on Flickr for Mr. Gullege letting him know that Tucows is using his photo so that he can take the action that he deems necessary. The use of Gulledge's photo on Wikimedia is in the clear because we are providing attribution as required by the Attribution 2.0 Generic License.

As far as the second photo goes, if you google the creator, Leona Hobbs, you will find that she is actually an employee of Tucows so that give her a pretty good reason to have uploaded her photo to Flickr on September 6, 2007. If someone would like to contact her and see if we are using her photo properly they can make a post to her blog.

Best Regards and Merry Christmas (the turkey's cooking in the oven),

deprecated function in your monobook.js

[edit]
Latest comment: 18 years ago1 comment1 person in discussion

Dear user, I noticed that you use the function in your monobook.js page.

This function is now obsolete, as the function was introduced with rev:35064 to the MediaWiki Javascript core library . It also keeps track of already imported files.

To allow us to remove from Mediawiki:Common.js I'd kindly ask you to replace its use with (same syntax!). Thanks! --Dschwen 17:03, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

👁 Category discussion warning

If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. You are receiving this message because you voted in R1 of the 2015 Picture of the Year contest.

Dear Iamunknown,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2015 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the tenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2015) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. In Round 1, there were 1322 candidate images. There are 56 finalists in Round 2, comprised of the top 30 overall as well as the top #1 and #2 from each sub-category. In the final round, you may vote for just one or maximal three image to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 2 will end on 28 May 2016, 23:59:59 UTC.
