Collecting Dreams

We will never learn from our dreams unless we remember them. Post your dreams here, fragmented or whole, with or without analysis. Feel free to share thoughts and analysis on each other's dreams, and to discuss anything dream-related.

Use whatever tags you wish, but at a minimum, please tag all entries with your username so that we can easily find the dreams that belong to you.

Symbols beginning with D or E

Dark, Darkness

1. The ancients found the darkness a source of great fear, and so dreaming of darkness could be calling your attention to a fear you have that needs to be dealt with.
2. Darkness also hides one's surroundings, and so darkness in a dream could indicate that you are "in the dark" about something, and need to find the truth. If you walk through the darkness into the light, this is showing you that you will indeed find the truth, and success will come your way.
3. If a storm causes a bright day to suddenly turn into darkness, this is a warning not to get too complacent with your present circumstances, and to save for "a rainy day."

Daughter

1. If the dreamer is pregnant, and the daughter an as-yet unknown, this could be a sign that she is going to have a girl.
2. If you have a daughter, she is trying to communicate something to you but may be afraid to. Other symbols in the dream could shed light on what it is.
3. If the dreamer is neither pregnant nor the parent of a daughter, yet in the dream she has a daughter, this could indicate that the dreamer will start a new creative project soon. If the daughter is pretty and happy, the project will be a success. But if the child is crying, the project will hit a lot of snags.
4. If the girl in question is the daughter of a celebrity, ask yourself what both the daughter and the celebrity mean to you. Look to other symbols in the dream to add further insight.

smatterings

someone hands me a green ceramic lizard and i hang it on the wall next to my chair.
my son's room is large and nearly empty.
my daughter comes home and i take her down a long non-existent hall to her room.
i cry and cry, my heart is a house with all the windows blown out.
it is better when the birds come in.

Dream Symbols

I get a daily astrology newsletter from my former ISP. The newsletter recently started including a write-up on one dream symbol each day. I think this will be a good place to store this information, rather than trying to save all the emails in my account (I've already deleted a few) and searching through them all for a specific symbol. So periodically, I will add these in.

When we wish to explore our dreams, there are some very basic details that we may train ourselves to remember. I have assembled a list of eight areas to contemplate, as well as questions to ask yourself about each area with regards to the dream.

Some people find it helpful to prepare the night before for the dreams they will record the next morning. Before going to sleep, you might try writing the date at the top of a page in your dream journal, then listing each of the eight areas above. In the morning, you just have to fill in the blanks. :D

  • Almost had one, or almost remembered one? ;^D

I've not been remembering mine very well, due to the sleeping meds. That bothers me. But sleep is good. I wish you some good rest soon *hugs*
