La chromaticité est une spécification objective de la qualité d'une couleur quelle que soit sa luminance. La chromaticité se compose de deux paramètres indépendants, souvent spécifiés en teinte et coloration, dont le second est alternativement appelé saturation, chroma, intensité ou pureté d'excitation. Ce nombre de paramètres découle de la trichromatologie de la vision de la plupart des humains, ce qui est supposé dans la plupart des modèles de la science des couleurs. Chromaticity is an objective specification of the quality of a color regardless of its luminance. Chromaticity consists of two independent parameters, often specified as hue and colorfulness , where the latter is alternatively called saturation, chroma, intensity, or excitation purity. This number of parameters follows from trichromacy of vision of most humans, which is assumed in most models in the color science.
