En mathématiques, le logarithme commun est le logarithme avec la base 10. Il est également connu sous le nom de logarithme décadique et aussi comme logarithme décimal, nommé d'après sa base, ou logarithme de Briggsian, après Henry Briggs, un mathématicien anglais qui a été le pionnier de son utilisation. Il est indiqué par log10, ou parfois Connectez-vous avec un L. de capital. Sur les calculatrices, il est généralement «log», mais les mathématiciens signifient généralement le logarithme naturel plutôt que le logarithme commun lorsqu'ils écrivent «log». Pour atténuer cette ambiguïté, la spécification ISO est que log10 devrait être lg et loge devrait être ln. In mathematics, the common logarithm is the logarithm with base 10. It is also known as the decadic logarithm and also as the decimal logarithm, named after its base, or Briggsian logarithm, after Henry Briggs, an English mathematician who pioneered its use. It is indicated by log10, or sometimes Log with a capital L. On calculators it is usually "log", but mathematicians usually mean natural logarithm rather than common logarithm when they write "log". To mitigate this ambiguity the ISO specification is that log10 should be lg and loge should be ln .
