La jarosite est un sulfate hydraté de base de potassium et de fer avec une formule chimique de KFe3 + 362. Ce minerai de sulfate est formé dans des dépôts de minerai par l'oxydation des sulfures de fer. La jarosite est souvent produite sous forme de sous-produit lors de la purification et du raffinage du zinc et est également fréquemment associée à l'écoulement des mines d'acide et aux sols acides sulfateux. Jarosite is a basic hydrous sulfate of potassium and iron with a chemical formula of KFe3+362. This sulfate mineral is formed in ore deposits by the oxidation of iron sulfides. Jarosite is often produced as a byproduct during the purification and refining of zinc and is also commonly associated with acid mine drainage and acid sulfate soil environments.
