Laos ((i / laʊs /, /lɑː.ɒs/, /lɑː.oʊs/, ou /leɪ.ɒs/) Lao Language: ສາ ທາ ລະ ນະ ລັດ ປະ ທິ ປະ ໄຕ ປະ ຊາ ຊົນ ລາວ, prononcé Sathalanalat Paxathipatai Paxaxon Lao), officiellement la République démocratique populaire lao, est un Pays enclavé en Asie du Sud-Est, bordé par la Birmanie et la République populaire de Chine au nord-ouest, au Vietnam à l'est, au Cambodge au sud et à la Thaïlande à l'ouest. Sa population a été estimée à environ 6,5 millions en 2012. Un tiers de la population du Laos vit en dessous du seuil de pauvreté international, ce qui signifie que l'on veut vivre moins de US $ 1,25 par jour. Le Laos est une économie à faible revenu, avec l'un des revenus annuels les plus bas au monde. In 2013, Laos ranked the 138th place (tied with Cambodia) on the Human Development Index (HDI), indicating that Laos currently only has lower medium to low development. According to the Global Hunger Index, Laos currently ranks as the 25th hungriest nation in the world out of the list of the 56 nations with the worst hunger situation(s) in the world.
