Dans la logique, un terme moyen est un terme qui apparaît dans les deux locaux, mais pas dans la conclusion d'un syllogisme catégorique. Le terme moyen doit être distribué dans au moins une prémisse mais pas dans la conclusion. Le terme principal et les termes mineurs, également appelés les termes de fin, apparaissent dans la conclusion. Exemple: prémisse principale: tous les hommes sont mortels. Assez mineur: Socrate est un homme. Conclusion: Socrate est mortel. Le terme moyen est en gras ci-dessus. In logic, a middle term is a term that appears in both premises but not in the conclusion of a categorical syllogism. The middle term must be distributed in at least one premise but not in the conclusion. The major term and the minor terms, also called the end terms, do appear in the conclusion. Example: Major premise: All men are mortal. Minor premise: Socrates is a man. Conclusion: Socrates is mortal. The middle term is bolded above.
