En philosophie, le physiopathisme est la thèse ontologique selon laquelle «tout est physique», ou qu'il n'y a «rien au-delà» de la physique. Le physicisme, par conséquent, est une forme de monisme ontologique - un point de vue «unique» de la nature de la réalité par opposition à une vue «deux choses» ou «beaucoup de choses». Deux questions se posent immédiatement. Tout d'abord, qu'est-ce que l'on entend par "physique"? Deuxièmement, qu'est-ce que les propriétés non physiques sont «rien au-dessus» de la physique? Le physicisme est étroitement lié au matérialisme. In philosophy, physicalism is the ontological thesis that "everything is physical", or that there is "nothing over and above" the physical. Physicalism, therefore, is a form of ontological monism—a "one stuff" view of the nature of reality as opposed to a "two-stuff" or "many-stuff" view. Two questions immediately arise. First, what is meant by "the physical"? Second, what is it for non-physical properties to be "nothing over and above" the physical? Physicalism is closely related to materialism.
