Royal Air Force
La Royal Air Force est la branche du service de guerre aérienne des forces armées britanniques. Formé vers la fin de la Première Guerre mondiale le 1er avril 1918, c'est la plus ancienne force aérienne indépendante au monde. Après la victoire sur les puissances centrales en 1918, la RAF a émergé - à l'époque - la plus grande force aérienne du monde. Depuis sa formation, la RAF a joué un rôle important dans l'histoire militaire britannique, en particulier, jouant un rôle important dans la Seconde Guerre mondiale où elle a combattu sa campagne la plus célèbre, la Bataille d'Angleterre. La mission de la RAF est de soutenir les objectifs du ministère britannique de la Défense, qui consiste à «fournir les moyens nécessaires: assurer la sécurité et la défense du Royaume-Uni et des territoires d'outre-mer, y compris contre le terrorisme; soutenir en particulier les objectifs de la politique étrangère du gouvernement Dans la promotion de la paix et de la sécurité internationales ". The Royal Air Force is the aerial warfare service branch of the British Armed Forces. Since its formation, the RAF has taken a significant role in British military history, in particular, playing a large part in the Second World War where it fought its most famous campaign, the Battle of Britain. The RAF's mission is to support the objectives of the British Ministry of Defence, which are to "provide the capabilities needed: to ensure the security and defence of the United Kingdom and overseas territories, including against terrorism; to support the Government’s foreign policy objectives particularly in promoting international peace and security." The RAF describe its mission statement as "... An agile, adaptable and capable Air Force that, person for person, is second to none, and that makes a decisive air power contribution in support of the UK Defence Mission.
