Le théocentrisme est la conviction que Dieu est l'aspect central de notre existence, par opposition à l'anthropocentrisme ou à l'existentialisme. Dans cette vue, le sens et la valeur des actions menées aux personnes ou à l'environnement sont attribués à Dieu. Les principes du théocentrisme, tels que l'humilité, le respect, la modération, l'altruisme et la conscience, peuvent se prêter à une forme d'environnementalisme. Dans la théologie moderne, le théocentrisme est souvent lié à l'intendance et à l'éthique environnementale ou aux soins de la Création. C'est la conviction que les êtres humains devraient s'occuper du monde en tant que gardiens et donc dans la manière dont Dieu les veut. Les humains devraient être attentifs à tous, des animaux aux plantes et aux humains eux-mêmes. Il soutient que les êtres humains ne sont que là pour un court laps de temps et devraient s'occuper du monde pour les générations futures. Dans la théologie chrétienne, le théocentrisme a parfois été utilisé pour décrire des théologies qui se concentrent sur Dieu le Père, par opposition à celles qui se concentrent sur le Christ ou le Saint-Esprit. In this view, meaning and value of actions done to people or the environment are attributed to God. The tenets of theocentrism, such as humility, respect, moderation, selflessness, and mindfulness, can lend themselves towards a form of environmentalism. In modern theology, theocentricism is often linked with stewardship and environmental ethics or Creation care. It is the belief that human beings should look after the world as guardians and therefore in the way in which God wants them to. Humans should be considerate to all, from animals to plants to humans themselves. It maintains that human beings are merely here for a short time and should be looking after the world for future generations. In Christian theology, theocentricism has sometimes been used to describe theologies that focus on God the Father, as opposed to those which focus on Christ or the Holy Spirit. Theocentrism was a key element of the Christology of Saint Augustine. This view is resisted among some theologians on the grounds that it poses a challenge to trinity.
