Percy Arthur Thomas and Nannie Jones. Lillian was the daughter of Arthur Garfield Taylor and Adelle Jackson.

Daryl’s paternal grandmother was Beatrice Denefield (the daughter of Alfred Denefield and Beatrice Richardson). Daryl’s grandmother Beatrice was born in North Carolina. Alfred was born in Florida, the son of Thomas Denefield and Bertha Crooms. Daryl’s great-grandmother Beatrice was born in South Carolina.

Daryl’s maternal grandfather was named Edward McCormack.
