This is the cover of John Frusciante's new EP, Letur Lefur, which was buzzed about ten days ago. You can continue buzzing right here, where you'll also see the cover image of the full length that is to come later this year, PBX Funicular Intaglio Zone.

What's even better, you can read John's message on the official site, see the artwork for the other upcoming release...and, of course, pre-order the EP! Upon a pre-order, you will receive a free song from it, track number 3, Glowe.

For those of you who don't follow news the regular way, I think you will be more than delighted to read this! :)

John is going to release an EP titled Letur Lefr this summer. It is going to be his first solo release since The Empyrean in 2009 and he also created the artwork for it. Just like his previous albums, Letur Lefr is going to be released through Record Collection Music.

Blast from the past

Hi community! After attending the RHCP concerts this past weekend I was feeling nostalgic for the last time I saw them (which was 2006) and coming on here and obsessing about everything RHCP and John Frusciante-related. As this is my first post back after my (unplanned and accidental) 4-5 year hiatus I beg you all to bear with me, as I'm sure I'm quite rusty, but if any of you who went back as far as I did on here are still around, I'm the one who brought you great posts such as the girl from ANTM who looked disturbingly like Frusciante, and 38 Chuck Norris-style jokes converted to John Frusciante jokes in honor of his 38th birthday (I'll let you all figure out how long ago that was...) But I have definitely realized that my passion for music has been seriously lacking these past few years, and I do miss getting together with amazing, like-minded people and just sharing the love for the music and artists we're so passionate about.
With that said, and even though this comment is long overdue, I do feel the need to comment on the current Frusciante-less RHCP. Although I was initially shocked and devastated to hear the news, I think the fact that, to quote a friend, "John effectively trained his own replacement" does speak volumes. While it makes me sad that he no longer wants to be a part of RHCP, I think it shows a great deal of love and respect for him to have hand-picked a perfect... what's another word for "replacement"? The word sounds too harsh... I guess I'll just say he's lovingly passed the torch down to Josh. After hearing the new music and seeing them all up on stage together as recently as this past weekend I must say that Josh is doing a beautiful job at both carrying on John's legacy and spirit and maintaining his own position in the band without straying too far from the sound John helped the band build. I do hope that the hater's are dying off and that people will learn to love and respect Josh as they did John and welcome him with open arms into the RHCP family.
Now that that is out of the way, while I have seen some tumbleweeds roll past in here (is anyone still moderating this community anymore? Or have we all grown too old for this sort of thing? I hope not), I am extremely curious as to what John has been up to since his departure from the RHCP. And also, since it has been so long and I've seen had a few computers and ipods, could anyone please share with me any Ataxia II, A Sphere in the Heart of Silence, Shadows Collide with People Acoustic or Bicycle Thief songs they may have? It would be greatly appreciated!
I hope I could help breath some life back into this community.
With Love xx

Since πŸ‘ Image
autumndandelion
</lj> brought an interesting point and one would assume that people have different Internet browsing habits, thought I'd write a little summary of what's been going on on the JF front.

Love, Oh, Love...

First of all, the colloquial, non-professional bit, since a lot of you will be happy for him: John married his long-term sweetheart, Nicole, around 31st of July 2011. They had a private wedding ceremony, there are no photos from it other than one photo of the guest mentioned in the next paragraph and that's the way it should be. :)

Studio Album #11 in the making

Then, the one that should concern us much more: he's been recording a new album. It's not clear what it's called yet, but one of the collaborators on it is Share Watson aka Truth/Truth Hurts, most widely known for her 2002 worldwide hit, Addictive. She's been posting occasional sneak previews of her work with John (initially, they've been working on her third solo album since sometime in 2010, presumbably hooked up by The RZA) via her Twitter account and, most recently, she posted a video clip of herself singing in the studio, where John can be heard in the background. The following photo of them was posted some days before that, too.

You can read the entire write-up on the new album, with a static page listing all the details chronologically coming soon.

Hello, community!
It's been a little bit quiet in here and I decided to post pistures of my Frusciante\RHCP fan t-shirts.

Under the cutCollapse )
I'm gonna make two more but it depends on whether I find proper colour t-shirts or not.

So what have you all been up to?

Question for the class!

How many people would like occasional updates here as to what the RHCP are doing with Josh (and frankly, I just want an excuse to keep up, because I haven't been)?

John and Omar just released a new record, for free a la In Rainbows, unless you want to donate to Keep Music In Schools.

Josh has officially replaced John in the Chili Peppers. Meh.

"Last October, the Chili Peppers began working with Josh Klinghoffer, an L.A. guitarist/producer who has played with PJ Harvery and Beck, among others, and as Guitar World was going to press, Klinghoffer announced that he was now, indeed, the new Pepper on the block. Well, apparently not that new- Klinghoffer performed with the band as second guitarist on the Stadium Arcadium tour and has played on some of Frusciante's solo albums." --Guitar World Magazine

Aaaand, Swahili Blonde is putting out a full-length album this summer.

Former Red Hot Chili Peppers' guitarist John Frusciante has created a new band dubbed Swahili Blonde, who will release their Man Meat debut album this summer.

The group comprises Frusciante and former Weave! percussionist Nicole Turley. Man Meat will also include guest appearances from Duran Duran's John Taylor, The Like's Alina Meyer along with her father Alan Meyer of Devo.

No track list has been announced, but "Tigress Ritual" will appear on Man Meat. You can hear four other songs on Swahili Blonde's MySpace page.

Man Meat will be released digitally, on CD and LP this summer on Los Angeles indie label Manimal. The group will perform in and around the Los Angeles area this spring, but there's no word whether a more extensive tour is in the works.

Swahili Blonde issued digital single "Elixor Fixor" on iTunes earlier this year.

In related news, Red Hot Chilli Peppers are reportedly still working on their new studio album, the band's first with new guitarist Josh Klinghoffer. Klinghoffer was officially confirmed as the band's full-time guitarist by drummer Chad Smith earlier this month after Frusciante left the band.

Also, the you can now pre-order the DVD of The Heart Is A Drum Machine. Even though not much of his interview was edited into the film itself, there is an uncut 25-minute interview of him talking about music and the universe and his cats in the special features!

...I have come up with an idea of giving some love in return, given that he sent his love and gratitude to us all. Draw or make a heart and post it in comments of this news post. Please, use real HTML (not BBcode) and, if possible, a thumbnail linking to the original image. Let's show that we support John's decision and that we put music above the image and commercial machinery.

Information

Ramparts, the John Frusciante fans' community on LiveJournal, was founded on 07th June 2001 by Cassie; long before the John section on the Red Hot Chili Peppers' official BBS got the same name. Since Cassie was awesome enough to trust me when I was a total newbie, she let me co-maintain it and, in the end, she allowed me and Invisible Movement to adopt it, due to time concerns. So, Ramparts lives on and you're all welcome to participate in discussions and share the love. Please, however, read the guidelines.
