This new R&D program partners JAXA with private-sector or other institutions to jointly create and develop new space-related businesses. Aggregation of people, money, technology, and a wide range of partnerships are the key to realizing innovative goals.

As a means of maximizing technological development and their social implementation, JAXA supports and certifies business start-ups by JAXA employees and others utilizing their own intellectual property and expertise. As of April 2022, there are nine JAXA start-ups operating in variety of different fields.
