The OGP will provide a grant of $120k in OSMO to MilkWay for the development of their liquid staking protocol on Osmosis. In exchange for this grant, MilkyWay has agreed to the following terms: 1) MilkyWay will provide the Osmosis DAO (Community Pool) with MILK tokens worth $120k (100K + 20% premium) at the time they raise and the Community Pool will receive the full amount at launch, 2) 3% of MILK LP incentives will be exclusively reserved for Osmosis liquidity pools, 3) to avoid confusion with other liquid staking products, MilkyWay will not use "st" in their ticker for any of their liquid staking tokens, 4) MilkyWay will not launch on mainnet until after the completion of the Oak Security audit and resolution of all findings. Purpose

MilkyWay is a liquid staking protocol tailored for the Celestia ecosystem built on Osmosis. When users stake their TIA coins with MilkyWay, they'll receive milkTIA, an onchain representation of their TIA staking position. This will enable Celestia token holders to unlock liquidity for their staked assets, creating an opportunity to optimize their capital by either providing liquidity to Osmosis pools or using them as collateral in various DeFi products. Since the MilkyWay protocol will live on Osmosis, it will significantly increase Osmosis TVL by capturing a large share of liquidity for TIA liquid staking, which will result in Osmosis acting as a liquidity hub for the Celestia ecosystem. What's more, the fact that the Osmosis DAO will have significant ownership in the MilkyWay protocol will allow Osmosis to have an important say on Celestia's economic decisions. Jay B Kim is a software engineer with a rich background in blockchain development, as he was previously the CTO of Cosmostation and an auditor for Oak Security. He's been actively involved in the Cosmos ecosystem for the few past years, dating back to even before the Cosmos Hub mainnet launch.

Description

Purpose

Real-time observability dashboards with metrics-based alerts and daily/weekly summary reports will help the Osmosis core team and community monitor the current state of Osmosis pools and IBC transactions. Range's monitoring suite and research on IBC rate limits will help the Osmosis community set parameters and have more data-driven and grounded discussions about the trade-offs between security and UX (liquidity and composability) of rate limits. After having received a grant from the OGP, the Range team has completed the inital version of their runtime monitoring toolkit, which is currently in private beta. In the past, the team has contributed to a number of DeFi protocols, audited CW projects with Oaks Security (e.g. Anchor, Mars, Sei), and have found and patched critical vulnerabilities in chains like Stargaze.

Description

The team is also a contributor to Agoric and has designed ICS-31, the standard for Interchain Queries.

Customer chains who choose to deploy v2 of the module will use the Osmosis DEX in the background to swap out the accumulated fees into the chain's native token, which should contribute to volume on Osmosis significantly. Notional is a repeat grantee and long-time contributor to Osmosis and the Cosmos ecosystem at large. The Notional team is one of the top Cosmos SDK experts, and is well-postioned to deliver on this grant.

What is the Osmosis Grants Program?

The Osmosis Grants Program (OGP) was created to award $5k-$500k of funding to Osmosis community members for the completion of value-add tasks which may be too small to be funded through a governance proposal.

We believe the community needs to start spending the Community Pool’s funds aggressively to encourage experimentation and innovation, grow the ecosystem, and onboard full-time contributors that could increase the value of the protocol by hundreds of millions of dollars.

A grants program is an efficient, low cost way to do this – by empowering community participants and supporting teams building applications which leverage the Osmosis stack.

How will I be compensated?

The Program Lead will work with you to establish possible milestones that could help split up the compensation so as to allow payment whenever a milestone is hit. If no milestones can be determined, the Grant will be paid a portion upfront to cover initial costs and the remaining total once the grant is successfully completed.

All payments will be made in OSMO or USDC.

If you would like to get paid in OSMO and are asking for a fixed dollar amount of compensation, the number of OSMO you will receive will be determined by the price of OSMO at the time of payment.

Can I apply as a U.S. based person/company?

Yes!

Please note that all applicants who are located in the United States will receive payments in USDC instead of OSMO (due to legal concerns).

What type of project will qualify for a grant?

Anything that benefits Osmosis’ product and/or its community!

There are numerous functions that can be funded through grants, such as analytics, tooling, infrastructure, growth and many more. Furthermore, the OGP will also fund ecosystem projects that are complementary to the core product of Osmosis, such as DeFi apps leveraging Osmosis’ AMMs and Osmosis-themed gaming/NFT projects. We are hoping to fund a wide range of grants, from simple projects to more elaborate and longer-term projects. The funding amount will vary to reflect the complexity.

How does the OGP handle conflicts of interest?

The Osmosis Grants Program (β€œOGP”) is a subDAO whose mandate is to allocate funding towards community members and contributors. The OGP consists of a Grants Lead and a multi-sig committee made up of individual community members, validators, investors, and founders.

Participants within the OGP are expected to disclose all conflicts of interests they have.

β€” Specifically, conflicts should be transparently disclosed to other members of the OGP and disclosed in funding batch announcements.
β€” If a multi-sig signer has a conflict, they should notify the OGP and abstain from participating in the grant approval process. If signers are conflicted, the majority vote will determine the outcome of the grant (e.g. if only 5 of 7 signers participate due to a conflict, 3 signers constitute the majority).
β€” If the OGP Grants Lead has a conflict, they should notify the multi-sig signers, reassign the funding decision to a different OGP member, and abstain from participating in the approval process for the applicable grant.
β€” All funding recommendations should be handled by a non-conflicted member of the OGP.

The OGP has historically conducted itself in this manner. This policy lays it out formally for all current and future OGP contributors.
