The bench is hearing Jafri's appeal against the Gujarat HC order upholding the Metropolitan Magistrate court's decision to accept the SIT's closure report, which gave clean chit to then Gujarat CM Narendra Modi and others in riots-related cases.
Maya Kodnani was acquitted by the Gujarat High Court in April this year in the Naroda Patiya massacre case in which she was found guilty by the trial court and was sentenced to life imprisonment along with 31 others.
The High Court didnโt entertain the appeal of the SIT, supported by the state government, seeking capital punishment for those found guilty of murder and conspiracy.
