Goa Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar said Goa has invited 12 artists from the U.K. and South Africa for the four-day long carnival. Colourful tableaus were paraded on the streets on the third day of the carnival, depicting the cultural heritage of Goa and the influence of Portuguese culture. Local and international tourists alike enjoyed the carnival, hoping to witness more in the coming days. The carnival, which will end on Tuesday, marks merriment and precedes the 40 days of Lent observed before Easter.

He further asserted that he developed good relations with him when he was governor of Goa. Lt. Gen. Jacob, 92, passed away on Wednesday morning following a 13-days illness. He played the key role in India's victory in the India-Pakistan war of 1971.
