To help the airline industry, which is on the recovery path after being significantly hit by the pandemic, the government, last month, modified the ECLGS by raising the limit of loan that can be availed by an entity to Rs 1,500 crore from Rs 400 crore earlier.
The data shows that GoFirst will operate about 40% lower flights followed by Air India, which will operate 3.07% less flights this winter. Market leader IndiGo will operate 1.54% less flights as compared to the same period last year.
The airline, however, said that Wadia will continue as a promoter. It also announced the appointment of aviation industry veteran Ben Baldanza as vice chairman at the carrier.
The tickets under the scheme can be booked between January 22 and January 29 for travel period starting from April 1 to December 31, GoAir said in a release. The sale will be valid for one-way fares, it said.
The senior GoAir pilot has deleted the tweet and locked his account. He also tweeted an apology: "I apologise for my tweets about PM, other offensive tweets which may have hurt sentiments of anyone associated."
Confirming the development, a senior official at the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said the aviation safety regulator was looking into the matter.
While IndiGo carried 16.82 lakh passengers, a 59.4 per cent share of the total domestic market, SpiceJet flew 3.91 lakh passengers, which is 13.8 per cent share of the total market, the DGCA data noted.
Besides, the city-based airline also announced the launch 'Online Doctor Consultation' facility in association with MFine, an on-demand healthcare platform.
India Domestic Flights Tickets and Fares: Union Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said 40 per cent of the seats in any flight would have to be sold at the mid-point of the lower and upper air fare limits prescribed for any route by the authorities.
