Kutch, Feb 24 (ANI): Nepal Prime Minister Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli visited Gujarat’s Bhuj area, which was devastated by a massive earthquake in 2001, to take lessons on rehabilitation of earthquake victims. Oli, along with his wife Radhika Shakya, and Nepali delegates reviewed the reconstruction work undertaken by authorities in Bhuj, adding that soon he will start reconstruction of Nepal.
Karachi, Feb 21 (ANI): Pakistan's marine forces have arrested 88 Indian fishermen and took sixteen boats into custody for allegedly violating the country's territorial waters in the Arabian Sea. A police official said the fishermen, who were arrested on Friday night, have been handed over to Docks Police Station in Karachi for necessary legal action. The arrested fishermen were charged under the Foreign Act and Fisheries Act. The fishermen, who belong to Gujarat, will be produced them before a magistrate on Sunday. India and Pakistan share an extensive oceanic border with each other which is poorly defined, resulting in fishermen on both sides inadvertently crossing over to the other side while netting their catch.
Ahmedabad/Mumbai, Feb 21 (ANI): Thousands of fitness enthusiasts took part in a cyclothon in Ahmedabad and people in Mumbai became a part of 'Run for Fun' marathon on Sunday to promote fitness and healthy lifestyle. The event was flagged off by Gujarat Tourism Minister Saurabh Patel at Sabarmati riverfront. Patel said the event aimed at promote cycling as a sport in the city. Participants from all walks of life and across age groups took part in the event. The marathon included two categories; 6.2 miles run and 3.1 miles run, and saw hundreds of participants, including specially-abled people.
Surat, Feb 14 (ANI): Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar flagged off a night marathon in Surat, Gujarat. Thousands of people participated in different categories of marathon. Physically challenged people also participated in the one-kilometre category of the race. At least, 12 physically challenged people came from Pune to participate in the marathon. The physically challenged were happy to take part in the marathon which gave them a new hope to live life despite challenges. Around 15,000 people participated in the marathon but thousands more came to the venue to watch Akshay, the brand ambassador of Surat night marathon.The fund raised through this event will be used for installing closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras in the city, clean India project and improving facilities in a cancer hospital in Surat.
New Delhi, Feb 08 (ANI): Reiterating their demand for an investigation into the land allotments under Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his tenure as Gujarat's Chief Minister, Congress leader Manish Tewari on Monday said that it was a clear case of impropriety, alleged corruption and a definite case of conflict of interest. Asserting that it was a fit case for a court-monitored investigation, he added that certain new facts have emerged which make the charge of gross impropriety and conflict of interest more damning. The Congress had earlier demanded a Supreme Court-monitored Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe in the matter following reports about the Modi-led Gujarat government's land deals with business associates of Anar Patel, the daughter of incumbent Chief Minister Anandiben Patel. However, the BJP accused the Opposition of levelling "false and baseless allegations to cover up its own corruption".

Their collection also comprises kites with speeches by India's iconic freedom leader Mahatma Gandhi, philosopher-thinker Swami Vivekananda, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and social activist Anna Hazare. The two men do not believe in discrimination on the basis of religion, and wish to spread the message of oneness among the people through their friendship and work.
Junagadh (Gujarat), Jan 21 (ANI): A school bus in Gujarat’s Junagadh area met with an accident on Thursday. Six people, including four children and two women, have been killed in the accident. More than 20 children have been grievously injured. Medical aid is being provided to the injured children.
