NTA later acknowledged that 3,765 candidates who had reached their centres, completed biometric registration and were present for the examination left before the test could restart.
Under the revised schedule, candidates appearing for the afternoon session were asked to report from 2:30 pm, while the examination was rescheduled to begin at 4 pm instead of the originally scheduled 3 pm.
NTA further stated that students appearing in the morning session are being given the complete duration of the examination and will be permitted to leave only after completing the full paper.
The meeting was attended by Higher Education Secretary Vineet Joshi, NTA Director General Abhishek Singh, NTA officials and representatives from the ministry.

As part of the refund process, NTA has activated a dedicated portal at neet.nta.nic.in - through which candidates can provide their valid bank account information for reimbursement of the examination fee paid earlier.
Sources familiar with the probe said the agency is also examining whether the doctor played any role in circulating leaked NEET papers among candidates or intermediaries linked to Maharashtra’s coaching and admission network.
