The petitioners, from south India, told the court that their son and his wife have always lived separately and they had never accepted their daughter-in-law, who was from north India.

Holding that it is ยimperative to presume legitimacy of a child born during continuation of a valid marriageย a sessions court in the city has allowed the appeal of a woman claiming maintenance for herself and her five-year-old daughter.
