Despite the release of Dhurandhar: The Revenge, the second installment in the franchise, the controversy from the promotional campaign of its predecessor late last year continues to follow actor Ranveer Singh. The backlash stemmed from his imitation of the Daiva (Bhoota Kola) tradition from Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Chapter 1 (2025), which some viewers said hurt their religious sentiments. Ranveer has now reportedly informed the Karnataka High Court that he is willing to submit an affidavit offering an unconditional apology for his actions. Read More Here.
Mustafa Ahmed, who plays Rizwan in the Dhurandhar movies, took to Instagram and wrote, "Dhurandhar was 2 yrs in the making. But Hamza and Rizwan are decade old comrades. With you, it’s always been just picking up from where we left. So many conversations unrelated to work but more to life.Times where we spoke without words. It can safely be said that we both can communicate telepathically. And I guess that’s what worked so smoothly on screen. It’s the proof that actions can be louder than words. And boy have we made some noise. Whether it’s Mustafa or Rizwan, I will always have your back. You know it. And now I guess the world knows it too. To Dhurandhar and Beyond. Rizwan AKA Mustafa."
According to trade tracker Sacnilk, Ranveer Singh-starrer Dhurandhar The Revenge has earned around Rs 32.61 crore as of 6 pm on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, Madhavan addressed the issue on Instagram, stating that director Aditya Dhar had asked him to extinguish the cigarette before delivering the dialogue. He also issued an apology to the Sikh community. In a video, the actor said, "I remember I had stubbed out a cigarette. There is no smoke coming out of my mouth in that scene. There is no cigarette in the said scene. We do not want to hurt anyone’s sentiments. We are with the Sikh community and we will stay with them forever. We respect them. Everyone knows that I visit the Golden Temple before any release. Trust me, we had no intentions to hurt anyone." Read more here.

While praising Dhurandhar 2 for earning Rs 100 crore on two consecutive days, Kunal Kohli also lashed out at filmmakers who, he claimed, inflate box office figures but still fail to match such success. He said, "Guys, let's thank God this... Arey fake collections kar kar ke bhi you're not doing hundred crores for the entire lifetime of your film. This is doing hundred crores in a day with genuine collections. Thank you Aditya Dhar, Ranveer Singh, and JioStudios for showing us the way and for showing us the potential of our cinema."
Filmmaker Kunal Kohli has shared a video message lauding Dhurandhar 2. He said, "Congratulations Aditya Dhar, Ranveer Singh, JioStudios. You'll have collected hundred crores plus a day twice. 'Dhurandhar' of course, has gone on to becoming the biggest hit of Indian cinema, which is wonderful. The important points that I'd like to highlight over here about this film and what it's done, it has shown us the true potential of the Indian box office. Phenomenal. It has shown us that Desi subjects and Desi stories work like nothing else. Let's not be influenced by Western subjects and Western ideas. Make Desi subjects, Desi films. Hero ko mard hona chahiye. Hindi film hero ko mard hona chahiye, not some confused, lost boy. That's what 'Saiyaara' was. That's what 'Dhurandhar' is, and look at the numbers."
A screenshot claiming that Shah Rukh Khan congratulated the team of Dhurandhar 2 is going viral on social media. It reads, "Just watched Dhurandhar 2... And honestly, it stays with you. A film full of pride, power and (emoji of the Indian flag). Every moment hits straight to the heart — that's cinema. Brilliant performances, stunning scale & storytelling that makes you feel everything."
However, the screenshot is fake. While many in the film industry have praised Aditya Dhar’s film, Shah Rukh Khan has not posted anything about Dhurandhar 2 on his official social media accounts.
The directors of Ryan Gosling’s Project Hail Mary, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, spoke about postponing their film’s India release due to Dhurandhar 2. "How dare you have your own successful film industry?” Phil said joked in an interview with Hindustan Times. He also spoke about the growing popularity of Indian films in the US. “I don’t need to tell you that often, when you look at the top 10 films in the United States, there would be a Bollywood film. Those movies play in American theatres. Most Americans go ‘what’s that’, but there is a big audience for it."
Christopher added, “And it’s growing every year. Indian films in America have begun to gain broad cultural relevance, starting with RRR. That really spread out beyond just those seeking it out.”
Dhurandhar 2’s release didn’t just force domestic films to postpone their release dates for fear of being overshadowed at the box office, but also impacted a Hollywood release. Project Hail Mary, starring Ryan Gosling, was pushed by a week to avoid a clash with the Ranveer Singh-starrer. While the film was released in the United States on March 20, its India release was postponed to March 26, 2026, as Dhurandhar 2 dominated a majority of screens across the country.

He shared that when he began training for Dhurandhar: The Revenge, his weight was around 80–81 kg, and later he gained up to 85–86 kg for the role. "To put on weight along with training, you also have to eat a lot," he said.
"I couldn't afford to be stiff. It had to be a functionally strong body — one that could pick up a gun and fire it easily. If I was pulling or beating people, it had to look like I had power," he shared.
Actor Mustafa Ahmed shared his experience of working with Ranveer Singh in Dhurandhar 2. He told NDTV, "There were many scenes where we were just looking at each other. It wasn't instructed to us, and the credit for this goes to Ranveer because, during rehearsals, he used to tell me, 'We will just look at each other here.' We kept doing it so much that it almost became telepathic between us."
Mustafa Ahmed, who plays Rizwan in Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, has an inspiring journey from a fitness trainer to a Bollywood actor. Recently, he shared his journey on Instagram, garnering praise from fans and colleagues. Even Hrithik Roshan commented on his post, writing, “Well done Mustafa." Earlier, when Dhurandhar, the first part, released in December, Hrithik had praised the film but also expressed reservations about its politics. The actor had faced brutal trolling for his comment at the time. However, the actor praised Dhurandhar 2 when the makers had dropped its trailer.
The Delhi Police has also jumped on the Dhurandhar 2 craze. Their official X (formerly Twitter) handle used a popular dialogue from Rakesh Bedi’s character Jameel Jamali to send out an important road safety message —with a touch of humour. They shared a caricature of Jameel Jamali holding a helmet, and the tagline read, "🪖Helmet Pehnega tabhi Syana banega Mera bachcha."
Dhurandhar 2 is wreaking havoc at the box office. According to Sacnilk, the film is performing phenomenally well on its sixth day of release, which is its first Tuesday. The film has already minted Rs 5.35 crore by 12 pm on Tuesday, with 6,160 shows across the country and an occupancy rate of 21.7%. According to a report in Koimoi, the film had sold over 7.3 lakh tickets (excluding blocked seats) in India in advance sales for Tuesday.
Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has been one of the biggest supporters of Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar films. Recently, he took to X (formerly Twitter) to hit back at viewers in Pakistan who are calling the film propaganda. He wrote, "I have a WONDERFUL IDEA for all those in PAKISTAN who claim #dhurandhar2 is a PROPAGANDA film full of lies, they can get their own Pakistani @AdityaDharFilms, and make #dhurandharthetruth 💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼."
During the trailer launch of Dhurandhar, the first part, in December, actor Rakesh Bedi had received backlash after he appeared to have been caught in an inappropriate moment with the film’s lead actress, Sara Arjun. The actor had defended himself and rubbished all claims of making Sara uncomfortable. He has now once again spoken about the controversy.
Speaking on the Red FM podcast, he said, “There was a small incident. The girl who plays my daughter in Dhurandhar, Sara Arjun. While shooting, every time she came, I would hug her and kiss her on the forehead — like a daughter… I would just say, ‘Come on, don’t worry, we’ll do a great scene together.’ But at the trailer launch, when I greeted her the same way, people started writing all kinds of things. I was like, ‘I’ve always treated her like this’.”
The actor added, “Thankfully, some people also defended me. But honestly, people just need a reason to talk. Kuch toh log kahenge, logon ka kaam hai kehna… This success is definitely a pleasant surprise. A hit like this doesn’t come often in anyone’s life—be it an actor, writer, or director. Many people don’t experience such success at all.”
Madhurjeet Sarghi is making headlines for her short but impactful role in Dhurandhar 2. She plays the role of Ranveer Singh’s character, Jaskirat Singh Rangi’s mother, in the film. The actor comes from a background in theatre, with her parents also being associated with Punjabi films. She has previously appeared in films like Agneepath, Kesari, and National Award-winning films like Firaaq, Summer 2007, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui-starrer Manto. She was also a part of Deepika Padukone’s Chhapaak. To know more about Madhurjeet, read here.
Dhurandhar 2 is on a spree to break several box office records. The film is even surpassing the box office collection of the previous film, which was released in December. The sequel has minted nearly three times more than what the original film earned within the first five days of release. While Dhurandhar had earned Rs 183.9 crore in India within five days of release, Dhurandhar 2 has managed to mint Rs 522.58 crore in India net collection within the same period.
As many continue to praise Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar 2, a fan took to X (formerly Twitter) and called it ‘incredibly real’, especially highlighting how Ranveer Singh’s character, Jaskirat Singh Rangi, shares a nuanced equation with his father. He wrote, "One of the most striking stills from Dhurandhar 2. It feels incredibly real. Anyone who grew up in a lower and middle-class home in the ’80s or ’90s with a strict father will recognise this instantly. That quiet, composed body language, the subtle restraint to not laugh, says it all. Boys, 16-21, who’d be playful and mischievous otherwise would suddenly become measured and self-conscious in their father’s presence."
In a recent Instagram video, actor Rakesh Bedi, who plays Jameel Jamali in Dhurandhar 2, spoke about the high demand for the film’s tickets and revealed that former cricketer Sunil Gavaskar couldn’t get tickets. He said, “Talking about sports, yesterday I met one of the great sportspersons of India, the great Sunil Gavaskar ji. He said, ‘Rakesh ji, I am not able to get the tickets. So please arrange it for me.’ So I am trying to arrange some tickets for him. I hope I am able to.”
According to Sacnilk, Dhurandhar 2 has already minted Rs 2.50 crore on Tuesday by 9am, with 3,631 shows and an occupancy rate of 20 percent.
Dhurandhar 2 isn’t just minting money at the domestic box office; the film is also performing strongly overseas. The film’s total worldwide collection now stands at Rs 850 crore.
In a recent interaction with ANI, filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma once again praised Aditya Dhar and his film Dhurandhar 2. He said, "Calling Dhurandhar just a movie is doing injustice to it...I have a lot to learn from director Aditya Dhar...The impact of the film is huge...Dhurandhar 2 has set a new benchmark...I thank Aditya Dhar for showing a new way to the Indian Cinema."
In a recent interaction, singer Mujtaba Aziz Naza revealed that his song Dongri Ke Sultan was shot on a grand scale in South Mumbai last year for Dhurandhar 2, but it, along with two other songs, did not make it to the final cut of the film. Speaking to Mid-Day, he said, “We had shot three songs — Dongri Ke Sultan, and [the cover of] Jumma Chumma De De, and Apni Toh Jaise Taise."
He added, “I don’t know why we had to remove them. The [makers] have edited the whole thing out. Fan clubs reached out to me, asking about the song.”
Naza admitted that since he retains the rights to the song, he is now planning to release it independently. “My song was in it but could not come. So I decided that I will make an official video of it. Because it had only audio and not video. We are working on its video as well, and we are making a very exclusive video. Very soon we are going to launch the official video of Dongri Ke Sultan,” he said.
Production designer Rupin Suchak gave a sneak peek into the world of Dhurandhar and how the film’s peak detailing came from the team members working meticulously on the set design. He shared behind-the-scenes photos from the sets and wrote, “Before a story can unfold, it must first exist in space. What you see here is not decoration, but intention. A world constructed to hold silence, tension and consequence."
Fans, who have been hailing Dhurandhar 2 for its research and detailing, lauded the team. A fan wrote, "Detailing is what turns good into epic." Another added, “Sheer brilliance in production! So proud to have this talent in India."
After the success of the film, rumours about director Aditya Dhar returning with Dhurandhar 3 have been rife. However, in a recent interaction with Zoom, casting director Mukesh Chhabra squashed all such claims. He said, “Aisa kuch nahi hone wala. Bohot sare rumours hai (Nothing of the sort is going to happen. There are a lot of rumours).” He also added that he would share any such update on his social media if it happens.

Content creator Dhruv Rathee recently dissed Dhurandhar 2, calling it a “brain rot.” Dhurandhar actor Naveen Kaushik, who plays Donga in the film, reacted to the same and said, “I believe every aspect of life is connected to politics – whether it’s national politics or interpersonal dynamics. Even in relationships, there is always some level of politics. Politics exists in subtle ways too... any good film will reflect some form of politics or ideology.”
He added, “Sabke paas freedom of expression hai... aap bol sakte ho, main debate kar sakta hoon. Lekin film ko hate ka source mat banao, violence ka instigator mat banao. Film hai, film ke flow mein dekhiye. Agar kuch seekhne ko milta hai toh le jaiye... bas usko enjoy kijiye (Everyone has the right to express their opinion, but a film should not become a source of hate or violence. It’s a film — experience it as one. Take what you learn from it, and simply enjoy it).”
In a chat with PTI, Akshay Kumar was talking about is upcoming film Bhooth Bangla and he spoke about Dhurandhar. The actor said, "There are different kind of films (being made). Dhurandhar is a great film, I've seen it. This (Bhooth Bangla) is a different film. Dhurandhar is an adult film, this (Bhooth Bangla) is for kids and families. When we made this film, we didn't look at what the current trend is, we rather looked at whether the story was good or not and accordingly we made this film. We never thought about the trend."
In North America, Dhurandhar: The Revenge earned $10 million over its three-day opening weekend and $14 million across five days from 987 locations.
