Addressing the crowd, Modi said, “Today, we are beginning a new chapter of the Viksit Uttar Pradesh, Viksit Bharat campaign.” He said the airport would act as a catalyst for growth by creating opportunities for youth and farmers, while also benefiting nearby regions such as Agra, Mathura and Ghaziabad. The first phase of the project has been developed at an estimated cost of around Rs 11,200 crore under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
Energy push: At the inauguration, Modi linked India’s ethanol-blending initiative as a safeguard for energy security amid global instability. He presented the project as part of a wider strategy focused on self-reliance and infrastructure-driven growth, while also describing the airport as a reflection of shared national ambition and collective ownership.

Economic boost: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that Jewar airport would serve as a “launchpad” for the state’s economic growth, boosting investment, trade and employment while giving Uttar Pradesh a stronger global identity. Addressing a gathering in the presence of PM Modi, he credited the Centre’s “visionary leadership” for expanding the state’s aviation sector and ensuring economic stability despite global challenges. CM Adityanath said the airport is part of a broader push to transform India into a developed nation, adding that it would soon expand from one runway to multiple, with plans to evolve into a major global aviation hub.
