India Women (IND-W) vs Australia Women (AUS-W) 3rd ODI Highlights: Chasing a mammoth 410 for a consolation win, India’s batting was woefully short again as Harmanpreet Kaur and Co lost the third and final ODI in Hobart on Sunday by 185 runs. Alyssa Healy smashed a sensational century in her final ODI for Australia, getting to the landmark off just 79 balls and then stepping on the pedal with a flurry of boundaries to finish on 158 in the third ODI against India at the Bellerive Oval (Ninja Stadium). Beth Mooney then followed that up with a century of her own to power Austrlaia to 409/7 in their 50 overs as India’s bowling was taken apart ruthlessly.
In response, India’s run-chase never really got going after Smriti Mandhana fell for a duck. Having been reduced to 135/7 by the 24th over. Deepti Sharma and Sneh Rana then stonewalled to delay the inevitable with a gritty stand but the contest was well and truly over. Alana King was once again the pick of Australia’s bowlers, picking up 4/32.
Australia take an unassailable 8-4 points lead in the multi-format series and will retain the trophy. But India still have a chance to level up on points in Perth where four points are in offer for a win.
Harmanpreet Kaur opted to bowl first after winning the toss for the sixth time in six matches on the tour as India made three changes for the match. Having already announced her retirement after the multi-format series against India, Healy received a guard of honour from the Indian players when she walked out to bat. India brought in Sneh Rana, Renuka Singh Thakur and Harleen Deol while Australia also made two changes, handing out a debut to 19-year-old left-arm pacer Lucy Hamilton as well as senior spinner Georgia Wareham.
Following a 1-2 loss in the T20I leg, hosts Australia showed their dominance in the One-Dayers, thrashing India in two one-sided affairs. Australia won the first ODI by six wickets with 11.4 overs to spare, while they handed India a four-wicket loss in the next game with 13.5 overs remaining. (Read more about the second IND vs AUS ODI)

Australia win the third ODI by a whopping 185 runs. A wonderful farewell from this format for an all-time great in Alyssa Healy. Half of the Indian innings was an attempted run-chase of 410, and half of it felt like preparing for the upcoming Test.

Sree Charani has shown on a few occasions this tour that she can hit the ball to some distance, helps herself to a four in that over and nearly gets another but superbly fielded by Litchfield in the deep.
DROPPED! Wareham should have had a wicket in her first over but her fellow legspinner Alana King puts down a sitter at deep midwicket off Sree Charani.
BUT, SHE DOES GET THE WICKET. After getting beaten by a ripper through the gates, Sne Rana moves across to the offstump and sweeps one onto the stumps. Soft dismisssal but at last Rana should some resistance.
Sneh Rana b Georgia Wareham 44 (74 balls)
Australia have finally remembered they have Georgia Wareham in their playing XI today.
She comes on to bowl her first over in the 44th of the match.
Alana King finishes with 4/33 from her 10 overs.
India need 200+ runs in the last 9 overs and yet, Australia are not making it easy for them. Superb diving efforts from Litchfield at cover and Gardner at deep square leg. Saving more than a few runs. A pointless run out review at the end of that over. The umpire being pedantic for no reason.
OUCH! Sneh Rana gets struck on her left elbow by a throw from the deep as she completed the run. Wareham with the throw, casual gather from McGrath but she let it go and Rana wasn't looking at where the ball was. That hurts.

India about to cross the halfway mark of Australia's total at the end of 40 overs.
GONE! End of a long partnership, and it comes off a rank full toss from Alana King. She has bowled a bucketload of better deliveries in this series and went wicketless. This one is a full toss that Deepti completely misses while trying to sweep. Plumb in front, review wasted. The ball did have a lovely dip to it at the end.

Close call for a run but Sneh Rana made it back to the crease in time, and grounded the bat too. Meanwhile, a few minutes earlier, the 50-run stand had come up between these two. Three from McGrath's over.
Alana King comes back into the attack and has a real chance to pick up a couple of wickets to get a five-for in her remaining three overs. Sneh, however, puts away a rare bad ball for four. King looking for that magic delivery from outside leg stump but not much turn.
As largely pointless as this Deepti Sharma-Sneh Rana parternship has been in the context of this match, also shows there were no demons on this pitch for India to have lost this contest by the 24th over. A disappointing day and series for this team.
McGrath back into the attack and starts off with a loosener as Sneh Rana glances one fine for four. Four dot balls follow and then a stray bouncer for a couple of extra runs. The match continues to meander with India just batting out time at this point... with a Test match looming.
With Alyssa Healy and Lucy Hamilton bowling in tandem briefly there, it would have been quite amazing if Healy picked up an international wicket before Hamilton. Looks like two overs is all Healy is giving herself. A boundary for Deepti as she tucked one behind square leg.

A little bit of fun and games. Healy comes on to roll her arm over with the cap on. Starts with a rank short ball, usually the kind that might end up resulting in a cjheap wicket. But Rana puts it away for four. But the Aussie captain comes back well enough, gets one to rush through nicely off the last ball that Rana did well to keep it away.
Might just be that one over... smiles all around.

The 150 comes up for India as Sneh Rana and Deepti Sharma go about at least reducing the margin of defeat. Four singles in that Hamilton over.
Decent rotation of strike in that over as Sneh and Deepti pick up four singles. The match is meandering towards the finish line.
After a lot of spin, time for Lucy Hamilton to come back into the attack and try to pick up her first international wicket.
The match has been effectively won already but the Australians still making India work hard for every run. Sensational diving stop from deep square leg by Tahlia McGrath to save a couple of runs as Deepti Sharma swept Alana King fine behind square.
Just three runs of Gardner's over. Sneh Rana beaten by a peach off the last ball. One that went with the arm and goes past the outside offstump.
A maiden over from Alana King as Sneh Rana just dead bats through the over. King can actually pick up five today, as she is on 3/18 now after six overs. Her figures in the series so far haven't reflected how well she has been bowling.
Sneh Rana is in the middle with Deepti Sharma now, and the match is heading towards an inevitable Australian win. Just the matter of margins.
OH DEAR! Two in the over for the magnificent Alana King and it's a duck for Kashvee. She has been playing the sweep shot well this series but this is full and straight and plumb.

Richa Ghosh wanted a single, indecision between her and Deepti Sharma, not taken and Richa is bowled next ball. Just sums up how ordinary India have been, not just today but across this ODI series. King pegs Richa back in the crease and rushes one through attempted cut short. Bowled. Couple of deliveries after hitting a six over long on.

Some poor communication between Richa and Deepti twice in that over. Once, Deepti gets away with a late dive to complete a run. But the next time, Richa is sent back halfway through and her feet almost get stuck on the pitch as she turns. Just about gets back in time and she is NOT pleased with Deepti. Frustration.
DROPPED! Clear outside edge but Deepti Sharma is put down by Beth Mooney. Delightful bowling by King again, wrong 'un and deceives the batter but Mooney misses out on a straightforward chance. Just two runs in that over.
Richa Ghosh has threatened to explode across this tour so far but hasn't quite made an innings of substance. In good batting conditions, can she help herself to a decent score? The defeat seems fairly imminent anyway. Couple of fours in that over as McGrath is driven past cover and cut behind point for two fours.
GONE! India have lost half their side and we are still in the 20th over. This is similar to the LBW appeal against Harleen a few overs back, but more on the offstump line rather than middle. And Harmanpreet does tend to get stuck on the crease and bring her pads into play against spin. She has missed this, and it looks plumb. She has taken down a review with her too.

Deepti Sharma, who has had a really poor tour with the bat so far, joins Harmanpreet as this Indian innings heads nowhere.
End of a painstaking innings. Harleen Deol called for a double by Harmanpreet after she tucked the ball to square leg. Late call, indecision and Harleen is caught short at the non-striker's by a superb throw from Gardner. McGrath does the rest.

Harleen Deol is not exactly picking King at the moment, she is on 14 off 26 balls at the end of that over, a falling sweep for a double at the end of that over.
Tahlia McGrath into the attack. After a painfully slow to this partnership, finally some forward momentum. At least some intent in rotating strike from Harleen in that over and then Harmanpreet finishes it off with a lofted off drive for four.
Alana King into the attack and she has been a pain for India all series. A loud LBW appeal against Harleen Deol, that looked really plumb actually but replays later show a small inside edge. Three runs from Gardner's previous over as the momentum has been completely taken away from India's batting.
Great fielding at deep point by Alana King, chasing down the ball and then adjusting her footwork at the end to pull the ball back in. Flicked it in time. Keeps that Sutherland over to four runs
13 dot balls in her first 20 deliveries faced for Harmanpreet Kaur. She is not the fastest of starters but once again, she is taking her time to get settled in. That boundary over mid off last ball of Gardner's over was much-needed. Nicely lofted. Landed just inside the rope.
GONE! Jemimah Rodrigues is the next to fall, Gardner strikes. India in all sorts of trouble now. This was sent in full on middle and leg, Rodrigues tries to sweep it. The ball pops off a top edg and Hamilton takes the catch at short fine leg.

Australia were 69/1 at the same point in their innings and so one could argue that India are slightly ahead at this point. Doesn't feel like it though. The 8th over went for a whopping 16 runs despite the loss of that wicket but then just three came off Hamilton in the next. That was followed by Sutherland bowling a maiden, keeping Harmanpreet pinned in the 10th over.
GONE! Full ball from Sutherland, dipping in and traps Pratika Rawal at the crease. Looks plumb, she discusses with Jemimah at the non-striker's and decides to walk off without a review. Sutherland strikes after a somewhat wayward start, a four and then five wides down the legside. But accurate with this one.

Oh, that's a nice shot. Attempted bouncer from Hamilton, it's a rising short delivery but Rodrigues rides the bounce nicely and plays it between slip and gully. Seven runs from that over, a rare single and the first double.
Mooney masterclass.
Another over, another boundary for India. That's now 44 runs in fours and just two singles. Carey continues and Jemimah uses the in-dipping angle to her advantage, plays a lovely pickup shot through square leg. Nearly carried all the way.

Another over with three boundaries and it is Jemimah Rodrigues taking on her Delhi Capitals teammate Lucy Hamilton. The first two fours were both scoops behind the wicket on the leg side, getting into a low crouched position early, premeditated but well timed. And then comes a lovely straight drive.

Hat-trick of fours for Pratika Rawal! This is a much better approach from the IIndian opener, taking the attack back to Australia in this powerplay. First a cover drive, which is becoming her signature shot. Then an easy clip through vacant fine leg. Not so much in control for the third one but squeezes it past point.
Jemimah Rodrigues, who hasn't had the best of tours so far, is off to a decent little start here. Gets across the stumps and glances one fine for four against Lucy Hamilton.
Alyssa Healy, meanwhile, is mic'd up and speaks about getting emotional only when she was handing out the cap to Lucy Hamilton earlier, and also says it was a nice touch from India to give her a guard of honour.
Jemimah Rodrigues in at No 3 and she squeezes one past gully for a four.
MANDHANA GONE FOR A DUCK: If India had any chance of chasing this one down, they needed a big one from Smriti Mandhana but the Indian opener is out for a 4-ball duck. Loses her shape as she comes down the pitch and swings wildly at one angled away from her by Nicola Carey. And Gardner takes a nice high catch at cover.

Hamilton starts off with four dot balls to Pratika, operating in that probing angle just outside the right-hander's offstump. Pratika however manages to put away the last couple of deliveries for fours. First a lovely cover drive, the second one a bit more streaky square drive that evades the point fielder.
Pratika Rawal and Smriti Mandhana walk out to the middle. Lucy Hamilton indeed has the new ball in hand.
What will India's approach be?
Time for India's run-chase as Australia get into a huddle. Lucy Hamilton will get an early go presumably with Australia missing both Darcie Brown and Megan Schutt.
BETH MOONEY AND ALYSSA HEALY! Masterclass in ODI batting, of different kinds. Healy was super dominant while Mooney was her usual metronomic stuff. Mooney finishes with an unbeaten 106.
AUSTRALIA POST 409/7 in 50 overs.
82-ball century for Beth Mooney! At the start of her innings, she was barely able to hit the gaps but gaps are all she is finding now. Delightful ODI batting as Australia cross 400 too.
In her brief international career, it's the worst day Sree Charani has had. Completely forgettable as she finishes with 2/106 in her 10 overs. 22 runs in her final over. A learning experience for the young spinner.The 400-run milestone didn't seem likely until this over. Couple of fours through point then a lovely sweep (some tired fielding through all that) and then Carey smashes a reverse sweep for six. Finishes the over with another four through point.
Four singles and a double off the first five balls in that 48th over from Kashvee but her spell ends with a boundary as Mooney moves on to 95 with a sccop behind the wickets for an innovative four.
No boundaries again in that Deepti Sharma over but Australia pick off 9 runs by just targeting the empty pockets in the outfield. Meanwhile, here's a look at the Kashvee catch
That's a gift for India. Low full toss outside offstump and Wareham just slices it striahgto the fielder at point. The 400 seems a bit disntant now as India pull things back slightly.

What a catch! That is sensational from Kashvee Gautam. It looked like TMac got a good piece of that, going across the stumps and smashing a flat hit towards the fence. But Kashvee times her jump to perfection and takes a stunner at deep midwicket.

Renuka Singh's final ball of the day is lofted neatly straight down the ground by Mooney for another boundary, but otherwise a decent last over and the pacer finishes with figures of 64/1 on a day Australia are pushing for 400.
That's a terrific delivery, yorker at the base of off stump and Ash Gardner's attempt at a lofted cover drive ends up seeing her dismissed bowled.

A rare boundary less over but still goes for 8 runs as Deepti tries to eliminate one side of the field, by packing the offside and throwing it up wide to Mooney.
Was shaping into a decent death over from Renuka, but after four singles, Mooney rocks back and cuts the ball through the gap between short third and point. PRECISION BATTING.
Meanwhile, Smriti Mandhana getting some back massage beyond the boundary between overs.
Sutherland goes for the big shot over long but finds the fielder. Got the height, but no distance. But it was another big over for Australia, with a four through square leg for Mooney who has now raced past the strike rate of 100.

A sweep from Mooney behind square leg of Rana and then a finer sweep from Sutherland in that over too. The scoreboard keeps ticking.
300 comes up in the 40th over for Australia and they look well set to push 400 at the moment. Sutherland lofts Charani over mid off, shouts of catch it but it falls short of Deepti Sharma who overruns the ball and is beaten on the spin, the ball goes for four. India have not helped themselves in the field at times.
8-an-over from here takes Australia to 385 but they have the depth to go even harder.
HALF CENTURY FOR BETH MOONEY: The run-machine rolls on. After a slow start, gets to a 53-ball half century. Sutherland too starting to get going, with a four in that over driving past mid off against Rana.
A strange end to a phenomenal knock and a revolutionary ODI career. Brought about my fatigue presumably. But a stunning 98-ball 158 to sign off from the 50-over format. It is a full toss from Sneh Rana, almost high for a no ball but Healy goes for a reverse sweep and misses the ball completely. Walks off with a wry smile, as the umpire's double check for no ball for height. She walks off eventually to a lovely applause.

Alyssa Healy 150... 49 balls for the first 50. 30 balls for the second 50. 16 balls for the third 50. This is incredible batting. Gets there with a late cut for single, and then finishes the over with a lofted off dive. The 200 is very much on the cards.

Time for a breather
Wheels are starting to come off for India. Healy with a lovely pull through midwicket, clearing the fielder inside the ring and beating the diving effort of Pratika in the deep. She is just determined to keep swinging here and see where it takes her. On the verge of 150 already.
WOW! This is some sho from Healy. Slog sweep through square leg for a monster six and then finishes the over with a cute little paddle sweep for four. She is putting on some show in her final ODI.
Has raced from 97 to 141 in no time. 15 runs in that Deepti Sharma over.
WOW, WHAT AN OVER! 23 RUNS! 4, 4, 4, 6, 4 from Alyssa Healy off Sree Charani and her ODI career strike rate (as per ESPNCricinfo Statsguru) is now past 100. THIS IS BRUTAL! A hattrick of fours through the offside, then a lofted six over mid on. Finishes the over with another late slice for four.
CENTURY FOR HEALY! What a moment. Short ball and smashes through square leg, into the Australian dugout where her teammates stand and applaud. A wonderful embrace between Healy and Mooney as the captain relishes this epic moment. Starc, a proud husband, is applauding from the commentary box. Follows that up with another boundary to say she is not done yet.
Healy keen to get to the landmark quickly presumably. Two boundaries in Sree Charani's over, both sweep shots, but targetting different areas. First through square leg and then behind square.
The cramp is starting to get a bit more frustrating for Healy, and the body is telling her perhaps why she decided to retire in the first place. It is not easy but she is soldiering on, with a smile on her face. Perhaps might go for some big shots here, stand and deliver stuff. The 50-run partnership comes in that over.
This is masterclass in messing with the bowler's lengths. First, Healy dances down the track and lofts one over the cover region for four. Then she realizes that a shorter ball is on the way, and so she waits and smashes one through square leg.
Hint of cramp for Healy, but she has raced to 85 off 71 balls.
Poor over from Deepti Sharma, given the context of how India were starting to apply some pressure and bringing the scoring rate down. First, a full toss to Beth Mooney who scoops behind with a late flick of wrists. Then a rank full toss last ball, Healy smashes it past short fine leg.
The No 77 moves on to 77.
Alyssa Healy illustrating the good old sporting cliche of 'retire when people would ask why now and not when they ask why not.' Batting like a dream in her final ODI. Does get lucky with an outside edge for four but then show her class with a square drive, digging out a full ball outside off and squeezing past the two fielders behind square on the offside.
Sneh Rana continues from the other end and poor fielding from Kashvee Gautam to let out the pressure that was building on Mooney. She had been tied down quite heavily but Kashvee just lets one through to her legs for a silly four. Rana comes back with four dot balls and Mooney gets off strike last ball.
Oh, a couple of quiet overs and Healy is keen to get a move on... comesdown the track, Rana sees it and flights one outside off. But Healy's hands are still so good and she quickly extends her forearms to loft it over the fielder at point.
But it is still a good over as Mooney is taking her time to get going from the other end. Some tight ground fielding too, keeping her quiet. 2 off 12 at the moment.
Renuka Singh Thakur back into the attack as well as Harmanpreet Kaur is perhaps sensing the chance to attack Australia a bit more. Tidy over, just four off it, and one of them an extra run through overthrows.

BREAKTHROUGH: Georgia Voll's quest for back-to-back centuries comes to an end. Sneh Rana draws her forward and forces to play a lofted on drive early and is caught at long on. Much needed for India who were looking listless on the field. But no respite really as Beth Mooney walks in.

A rare quiet over in this phase as Kashvee continues to impress, three runs in her 7th over. Even though figures of 1/49 don't quite scream great bowling, she has been solid today and created half chances early on.
Big over and Australia heading for a massive total in Hobart. Charani concedes a couple of boundaries in a 11-run over. First, beautifully lofted down the ground by Voll. Then the youngster brings out a cut past cover, that races to the boundary in a flash. What timing on that!
The 100-run stand comes up in that over off just 82 balls.
DROPPED! Kashvee back into the attack. For a catcher of Harmanpreet's caliber that goes down as a missed chance. The ball stops of Voll, she checks her cover and Harmanpreet almost misjudges the trajectory of this and is caught on the backfoot. Healy hits a four behind square as this partnership continues to motor along.
HALF CENTURY: And later in the over, Georgia Voll brings up another half century, getting there off just 42 balls. She is on a roll, is Voll.
A fitting finale unfolding to a magnificent ODI career.
Her final ODI and Alyssa Healy is signing off in style. Came into the match with an incredible career strike rate of ~99 and has scored a 49-ball 50. Fitting.
A short-arm jab from Georgia Voll, the ball seems to stop on her a little bit, and the batter is not in control of this shot. Unfortunately for India, it falls between short midwicket and deep square leg. Desperate dive from Jemimah but she was far away from that.

It was turning into a good over from Deepti but Healy cuts loose off the last ball... short and wide from Deepti Sharma and put away through cover point by the Australia captain who moves up to 47.

You can't keep Alyssa Healy quiet for too long. After having spent a few quiet minutes in the middle, Healy takess on Rana. Down the track and over midwicket for a couple, Smriti Mandhana dives and stops a four. Follows that up with a lovely sweep shot for four.

Sneh Rana was coming on to bowl her 2nd over but the ball goes to Deepti Sharma, strange call, unless Harmanpreet wants to switch ends for Sneh, who bowled a very tidy first over. This is a good over from Deepti too, just pinning Healy back in the crease for three straight dots.
It is indeed a switch of ends for Sneh Rana.
Fifty-run stand between Healy and Voll as Charani settles into a better rhythm than her first over where she was trying to just fire it in.
Nice start by Sneh Rana, playing her first match of this India tour Down Under. If she gets into her rhyhtm, with her flight and changes of pace, she can create some chances here on what is a used surface. Just three singles in that over.
Sree Charani comes in right after the first powerplay. And Voll takes her down over long on. What a shot. Strong bottom hand and swings through the line to clear long on. Starc on commentary says there is a strong breeze that she hit that into, and it still sailed all the way.
Australia on track for a massive total here.
It's actually a really nice over by Kashvee, just one ball where she missed the line and length and Voll cut it away for four. But otherwise she operated in a really nice channel outside off, beat Voll a couple of times and then finishes the over with a brilliant leg cutter that bamboozles Healy.

Voll's getting down to her work now, starts Renuka's over with a lovely square drive for four. Not much foot movement, but the hand speed is fantastic and she has timed that to perfection. Renuka does well to keep that to a 7-run over.

She then decides to take it on from outside offstump but ends up finding the fielder at deep fine leg. Litchfield also seemed to be losing footing on her backfoot there, that didn't help her case either. Sree Charani can be a bit shaky with these catches but she holds on calmly.

Renuka is bowling to her fields here, angling the ball across Litchfield with good consistency. Litchfield hit that one six but yet to get going in full flow here, but you know what's in store if she gets her eye in.
Meanwhile, Healy's career numbers pop up on the broadcast, she is going to finish her ODI career with a strike rate of nearly 100. That's just superb.
These are very early danger signs for India's bowlers. It was a decent over from Kashvee, starting with a half chance as Healy hit a short-arm jab just short of Harman at short midwicket, but ended with a mighty hit from Healy. Well nearly mighty, lands short of the rope at long on but lovely lofted on drive for four.

A serial winner with Australia, one of their all-time greats, Alyssa Healy will walk out to bat for the last time in ODIs. Phoebe Litchfield has been in sensational touch too, and converted that into a big score on Friday. India will need to start well in what could be tough bowling conditions, remains to be seen.
Both Megan Schutt and Darcie Brown, who have been opening the bowling for Australia this series, are absent today. Schutt out with an illness according to Cricket Australia. Hamilton is the obvious replacement, leg-spinner Georgia Wareham also enters the fray for the first time in this ODI series.
For India, they must desperately hope to be more effective with the ball as Australia have cantered in both ODIs so far. Bowling first, India cannot afford Australia to romp at 7+ runs an over or they'd be facing a moutain to chase later on.

Healy had acknowledged that the 1-2 reversal for Australia in the T20Is – their first such in bilaterals at home since 2017 – was a result of India playing with confidence, on the back of winning that elusive major trophy at the end of last year. "They've got a big trophy in their cabinet that they're really proud of and have got every right to come out here and play the way that they have," Healy had said before the first ODI in Brisbane. "It's now a challenge for us to bounce back and throw the next punch in this format and say that this is our turf, these are our conditions, and this is the way that we play this ODI format."
Their turf. Their conditions. Their style of dominating ODIs at home. After all, Australia have not lost an ODI series at home since 1987, when none of the players in either squad was even born. And that has been evident in the way they have played in these two matches. They are, simply, the best in the business.
India have made three changes. Kranti, Vaishnavi and Amanjot are resting. Harleen, Renuka and Sneh Rana feature in the XI.

She wanted Australia to throw the next punch, and her words have come true in just a few days as they have trounced Harmanpreet Kaur's side in back-to-back ODIs, winning the second match on Friday in Hobart even more convincingly than they had in the first match.
India's decision to bat first at Allan Border Field had backfired as Australia got to enjoy the best bowling conditions. But when Harmanpreet won the toss and repeated the same at Bellerive Oval, it was fairly justified because the pitch appeared perfect for India to pile on a big score and put some scoreboard pressure on Australia later. Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal were tasked with opening the batting again, and the duo – who average more than 75 for their opening stands in this format – added 78 this time. But it came off 99 deliveries. Mandhana struggled for rhythm, lived dangerously through her time in the middle, offering quite a few half chances that Australia didn't convert. Indian openers actually didn't a boundary in the first powerplay after Over 4.5 – a streak of 31 deliveries without finding the ropes with the fielding restrictions in place.
Both captains had a chuckle at the toss. India captain Harmanpreet Kaur wasn't quite sure how her luck with the coin had turned in recent times as she called it right yet again. But once she said India were going to bat first, it was Alyssa Healy's turn to step in with a big smile. "Happy days," she said as Australia wanted to bowl first anyway at Allan Border Field – a fortress for them over the years in Brisbane. At a venue that they know intimately, in 20 previous women's ODIs, they had a 100% win record. And on Tuesday, they extended it 21-0 as India's decision backfired and Healy's side used the conditions to their advantage, extracting extra bounce right through their bowling innings and never letting Indian batters find any momentum.
Australia, in the rare situation of having to fight back at a home multi-format series after losing the T20I leg 1-2, controlled the proceedings from the first over till the winning runs were hit, overhauling India's 214 with six wickets and 70 balls to spare. "We weren’t too unhappy when they won the toss and opted to bat first. It does a little bit here," player of the match Beth Mooney, who was the best batter across both sides with her classy 76, said later. And Smriti Mandhana, who stood in for an injured Harmanpreet in the second half, conceded as much. "Wicket didn’t play like we thought it would," she said.
