CoTU spokesperson Lun Kipgen criticised the State and Central governments for their failure to apprehend the perpetrators involved in the ambush, even after two days.
According to sources, the suspended cops were involved in a drug case seizure on August 5. They apprehended some drug peddlers on NH-102 (Indo-Myanmar road) with illegal drugs.
The group said the meeting aimed to initiate follow-up action on the resolutions adopted during the Manipur People’s Convention May 3, 2025 at Khuman Lampak, Imphal.
The court also directed the Manipur government to provide specific details such as “buildings burnt or partially burnt, buildings looted, buildings trespassed or encroached upon”.

The security forces during cordon and search operations in Champanagar, Narayanpur and Thangboipunjre areas of Jiribam district on Wednesday district seized one 2-inch mortar, thirty-six live barrel cartridges and five empty barrel cartridges.
More than 200 people have been killed and thousands rendered homeless in ethnic violence between Imphal Valley-based Meiteis and adjoining hills-based Kukis in Manipur since May last year.
Suspected Kuki militants allegedly launched an attack on farmers at the Sanasabi paddy field (Meitei inhabited area) and Thamnapokpi (an adjacent village).
The incident was reported after militants attacked a village in the vicinity of the Borobekra police station and charged bombs on Saturday morning, leading to a gunfight with security forces.
Three persons were killed and 20 others injured in a gunfight that broke out between two groups on Wednesday over cleaning a disputed land in the town as part of 'Swachhata Abhiyan'.
