Outlook for Mac - Reply/Forwards Does Not Include the Original E-mail

RRAB 25 Reputation points

I am running Microsoft® Outlook for Mac (Version 16.110 (26051131) on my mac. Recently, a reply or forward does not include the original message -- something seems to have changed recently.

I have toggled the attribution of the original message on and off, tried restarting Outlook, restarting the computer.

I am running the Legacy outlook. Not crazy about the updated look.

Can someone guide me on what the issue might be?

We've got the same issue since updating to 16.110.

Please let us know if this issue will be fixed with the next version.

At the moment, we've blocked all the updates of Office Applications (16.119.3) for inter-compability reason...

    Thanks before

Just use apple mail. It seems to just work and you don't need to deal with the enshitification that is occurring with outlook..

    Hi RRAB

Thank you for the detailed information and screenshots.

I found that another user recently experienced very similar behavior in Legacy Outlook for Mac Version 16.110, where replying or forwarding emails no longer includes the original message content.

You can refer to a similar thread here: Legacy Outlook for Mac is now deleting threads when emails are replied or forwarded - Microsoft Q&A

As a temporary workaround, you may want to roll back Outlook to an earlier version such as 16.108 or 16.109, as this appears to have resolved the issue.

    Please try the following steps:

+Open any Office app > Help > Check for Updates > clear the checkbox for “Automatically keep Microsoft Apps up to date.”

    +Quit all Office apps.

+Go to Applications > choose Microsoft Outlook > Move to Trash.

+Install the 16.108 or 16.109 package from this link: Update history for Office for Mac - Office release notes | Microsoft Learn

I hope this helps. Please let me know how it goes after trying the rollback.

I had the same problem after 16.110 installed on Friday. Applied this solution, rolling back to 16.109.3 and the issue is resolved. Many thanks.

As mentioned elsewhere here: Outlook update 16.110.1 fixes the problem and reinstates proper replying and forwarding with including the original thread.

I have updated several client machines and it works.
