Steward requests (Global permissions)
This page hosts requests for global permissions. To make a request, read the relevant policy (global rollback, global sysop, global rename, โ€ฆ) and make a request below. Explain why membership is needed for that group, and detail prior experience or qualifications.

This is not a vote and any active Wikimedia editor may participate in the discussion.

Global rollback and global interface editor requests require no fewer than 5 days of discussion while abuse filter helper and maintainer requests require no fewer than 7 days. Global renamer and global sysop requests require no fewer than 2 weeks of discussion. For requests that are unlikely to pass under any circumstances, they may be closed by a steward without further discussion (after a reasonable amount of input).

Requests for global rollback permissions

[edit]
๐Ÿ‘ Image
Please be sure to follow the instructions below:
Your request might be rejected if you don't follow the instructions, and not doing so would reflect poorly on your suitability.
Please also review the Global rollback policy.
๐Ÿ‘ Image
Please note that Global rollbackers discussions are not votes. Comments must present specific points in favor of or against a user's approval.
Instructions for making a request

Before requesting, make sure that:

You have sufficient activity to meet the requirements to be allocated the global rollback flag

To make a request
Copy the template below to the bottom of this section and explain of why you need the access and why you're suitable.
=== Global rollback for {{subst:u|{{subst:REVISIONUSER}}}} ===
{{sr-request
 |status = <!-- don't change this line -->
 |domain = global <!-- don't change this line -->
 |user name = {{subst:REVISIONUSER}} <!-- don't change this line unless you're nominating another user -->
}}
::''Not ending before {{subst:#time:H:i, j F Y (T)|+5 days}}''
The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than 5 days (with rare exceptions, no matter how obvious the result may seem). This is not a vote, and all input is welcome. Stewards will determine whether consensus exists; when doing so it is likely that the weight given to the input of those involved in cross-wiki work will be most influential.

Requests for global sysop permissions

 |user name = {{subst:REVISIONUSER}} <!-- don't change this line unless you're nominating another user -->
}}
::''Not ending before {{subst:#time:H:i, j F Y (T)|+2 week}}''
The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than two weeks (no exceptions are allowed no matter how obvious the result may seem). This is not a vote, and all input is welcome. Stewards will determine whether consensus exists; when doing so it is likely that the weight given to the input of those involved in cross-wiki work will be most influential. Please note: Since 2019 all global sysops are required to have two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled.

Global sysop for TunnelESON

[edit]
The following request is closed. Please do not modify it. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
Status:  Not done
Not ending before 04:38, 17 April 2026 (UTC)

Since October 2025 I actively patrolled many hundreds of smaller wikis to ask at Global sysops/Requests with so many local edits to further show my commitment to become a global sysop to more efficiently patrol smaller wikis and also process Global sysops/Speedy delete requests. I have learned even more useful things since then.

I have 2FA enabled. I am a very senior administrator on 13 wikis (5 in English and 5 in Chinese are pairs of Wikipedia, Wikibooks, Wikiquote, Wiktionary, and Wikisource also the multilingual portal, plus Meta and Commons), and also a bureaucrat on Old Wikisource and a former steward. Being much more active on GSwikis I have read Global sysops#Check local policies and I am well aware of it. If granted the flag, I will wisely use it and work along with other global sysops and stewards, especially if any concerns arise. Thanks so much for your consideration.--TunnelESON (talk) 04:38, 3 April 2026 (UTC)[]

Thanks for volunteering to help out, but closing as not done for now, as this request is unlikely to pass in any circumstances and to stop the pile-on effect. shb (t โ€ข c) 22:22, 3 April 2026 (UTC)[]

Requests for global rename permissions

Your request might be rejected if you don't follow the instructions, and not doing so would reflect poorly on your suitability.
Please also review the global rename policy and the global renamers policy page.
Stewards
When you give someone global rename rights, please add them to the list of global renamers and ask them to subscribe to the global renamers' mailing list.
Instructions for making a request

Before requesting, make sure that:

  1. You have a global account;
  2. You are logged in on this wiki, and the account is part of your global account;
  3. You have considered the addition of a user language box to your user page
To make a request
Copy the template below to the bottom of this section and explain of why you need the access and why you're suitable. If you previously requested that right, please add a link to the previous discussion(s).
=== Global rename for {{subst:u|{{subst:REVISIONUSER}}}} ===
{{sr-request
 |status = <!-- don't change this line -->
 |domain = meta.wikimedia <!-- don't change this line -->
 |user name = {{subst:REVISIONUSER}} <!-- don't change this line unless you're nominating another user -->
}}
::''Not ending before {{subst:#time:H:i, j F Y (T)|+2 week}}''
The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than two weeks (no exceptions are allowed no matter how obvious the result may seem). While all input is welcome, there is a hard 80% support requirement for this role as per the global renamer policy.

Requests for global IP block exemption

[edit]
๐Ÿ‘ Image
Please be sure to follow the instructions below:
Your request might be rejected if you don't follow the instructions. Please review Global IP block exemption. You may request Global IP block exemption via stewards๐Ÿ‘ (_AT_)
wikimedia.org if you can not edit this page.
Please note: Global IP block exemption does NOT make one immune to locally-created blocks of any sort, only global blocks.
๐Ÿ‘ Image
If you want to edit the Chinese Wikipedia, usually global IP block exemptions will not help you. Please see to request a local IP block exemption.
Instructions for making a request

Before requesting global IP block exemption, make sure that:

  1. You have a global account;
  2. You are logged in on this wiki, and the account is part of your global account;
To request global IP block exemption
Copy the template below to the bottom of this section and explain why you need the access and why you're suitable. If needed, link to relevant discussions.
=== Global IP block exempt for {{subst:u|{{subst:REVISIONUSER}}}} ===
{{sr-request
 |status = <!--don't change this line-->
 |domain = global<!--don't change this line-->

<Add an explanation here>, thanks, --~~~~
The request will be approved if there is demonstrated need for the permission, such as bypassing a global block from someone who is not the intended target.

Global IP block exempt for JaydenChao

[edit]
Status:  In progress

I occasionally need to use a VPN due to network connectivity issues, which results in my IP being affected by global blocks. This makes it difficult for me to edit consistently.

I am a constructive contributor with over 1000 edits and would like to continue contributing without interruption. I will follow all Wikimedia policies and use this permission only for legitimate editing purposes.

Thank you. --JaydenChao (talk) 10:02, 30 March 2026 (UTC)[]

What is the nature of this "connectivity issue"? โ€” xaosflux Talk 13:07, 30 March 2026 (UTC)[]
My internet connection can occasionally be unreliable or affected by IP blocks, so I sometimes need to use a VPN to maintain stable access to Wikimedia projects. However, VPN IPs are often globally blocked, which interrupts my editing.
For reference, I have already been granted IP block exemption on Chinese Wikipedia after review, and have continued to contribute constructively.
I am requesting global IP block exemption to allow consistent editing across projects, and I will continue to follow all applicable policies. JaydenChao (talk) 13:22, 30 March 2026 (UTC)[]
  • Status:  Locally handled

I am requesting a Global IP Block Exemption. I am an editor on English Wikipedia. I am currently unable to log in to the Georgian Wikipedia (ka.wiki) because my ISP's IP range (2607:FB90::/32) is subject to a global block by Xaosflux. This is preventing the SUL (Single User Login) handshake, causing "cookie errors" and login failures on the Georgian project. Blevan7 (talk) 14:41, 16 March 2026 (UTC)[]

Done
@Blevan7: I've attached your account to kawiki, please try again. โ€” xaosflux Talk 14:43, 16 March 2026 (UTC)[]
Thank you very much, it works now. Blevan7 (talk) 14:53, 16 March 2026 (UTC)[]
For any other projects - note there is currently a wide block for not-logged-in users on T-MOBILE (the network range you listed above). If you have access to a non-T-MOBILE connection, logging in there will attach your account as expected. โ€” xaosflux Talk 15:17, 16 March 2026 (UTC)[]
Got it. Thank you very much again. Blevan7 (talk) 19:05, 16 March 2026 (UTC)[]

2026 Ombuds Commission

[edit]

Hello, we are ready to appoint the 2026 Ombuds Commission. As you know, this will involve adding user rights to new members. Could you please action these users for the relevant user rights. We have verified that each user has signed the ANPDP and enabled 2FA, but please double-check that for surety's sake. SRGP posts intimidate me, please don't hesitate to let me know if I've done it wrong somehow

The following users are incoming to the Ombuds Commission and need the related user right(s):
