The Block of Eternal Screaming is a block appearing in various videos on the Minecraft YouTube channel, beginning with Ten Things You Probably Didn't Know About Minecraft and ending with Around the Minecraft World in 80 Biomes.
The block is unlike those actually in Minecraft, being in a 2D, drawn style. Its appearance is quite simple, being entirely pink except on the face, which has two eyes and a mouth twice their size.
The Block of Eternal Screaming's main function is to shriek without cause or stop. As it screams, its mouth shakes and salivates, while the eyes look out in every possible direction. It can be created by Mobbo, frequently to mischievously disrupt other buildings, and was used to terraform the Overworld during a campaign by Jonathan Minecraft.
The block began as a stone block, but Mobbo made the block into its current state with the use of forbidden commands.[citation needed]
The Block of Eternal Screaming was first shown as a trick answer to the question of what was the first block in Minecraft, quickly disposed of by M.A.R.I.L.L.A.[1]
