A sock puppet is a type of puppet made from a modified sock, appearing as a frequent subject within Ten Things You Probably Didn't Know About Minecraft.
The sock puppet associated with M.A.R.I.L.L.A. is a light blue sock with white and mauve stripes at its leg. The face of the puppet appears to be a reptile, with red buttons for nostrils, a forked tongue, purple strings for hair, and googly eyes. In its first appearance, it was depicted as substantially larger than Steve and several phantoms, at least twelve blocks tall, but in subsequent videos it appears to be the size of an actual sock.
The sock puppet first appeared while M.A.R.I.L.L.A. was explaining the history of the phantom. An early design had an animated mouth, which was rejected for bearing a resemblance to a member of The Muppets. To demonstrate this, the sock puppet appeared as a kaiju-like creature, towering over and apparently frightening M.A.R.I.L.L.A. It would reappear in a segment about the development of the ravager. Once again it is used as a design example, with the final look of the mob being likened to a cross between it and the Fire Ogre from Mo' Creatures; a goofy yet imposing look inspired by the Manticore from Dungeons & Dragons.
Its third appearance would be in a segment about the wandering trader, appearing in a brief case of "hot new items!!!" Alongside it were issues of Coarse Dirt Weekly and HRRRM!, a PlayStation copy of RubyDung, and a t-shirt marked "I'm More Hardcore Than the Middle of a Diamond Apple." In 2021 it would once again be brought up to explain the phantom's development, this time by Narrator, to M.A.R.I.L.L.A.'s chagrin.
