On the Marketplace, several maps have been released either centered around or feature a speedrunning mode.

Allusions

[edit | edit source]

In Java Edition 23w13a or b, the mob Ray Tracing has a chance to mention "practicing speedrun stats." The release also contains the feature "Dream Mode," likely referencing the YouTuber Dream, who is known for allegations of cheating speedrunning records.[2]

Speedrunning is referenced within the novel Minecraft: The Tournament, where several of the characters express an interest in it. Early in the story, protagonist Jett Warner is introduced playing one. It is also briefly mentioned in Minecraft: The Haven Trials.[more information needed]
