When i was reading it says it points to your spawn point... i think you should add a thing to reset your compass to current location so that you can have it point wherever you want –Preceding unsigned comment was added by Imbloodless (Talk|Contribs) 22:00, 23 December 2010. The last paragraph in the description needs to be changed and I can't do so. I tested the compass after using a bed and it points to the original spawn point, for now at least. –Preceding unsigned comment was added by TopherLude (Talk|Contribs) 22:39, 25 February 2011. The compass icon in the statistics menu points at the spawn point, so now you don't even have to have 4 iron ingots, 1 redstone and a workbench with you if you want to see your spawn location without using the items. You need to have crafted the compass once before, though, to get it to appear there. Wandurr 17:07, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
As of Beta 1.4 it was announced that every time you sleep, your spawn point is reset to your current location and the compass points to your new location. Due to a bug this didn't actually get fixed until Beta 1.6. IMHO this is a shame as how am I suppose to find my way back home? --Quatermass 18:46, 14 June 2011 (UTC)
I'm making a texture pack of my own, but I can't get the compass' dial to appear, making it look like just a compass and no dial/needle. What I know is that it's in the gui folder, but I don't know what exactly is making it work. Any ideas or recommendations or suggestions as to what I should change or what I could be doing wrong? –Preceding unsigned comment was added by Harris012 (Talk|Contribs) 01:02, 9 October 2011. In 1.0.1 (though I noticed the issue earlier) my compass never seems to point to the original spawn on SMP. I make a point of building my first base at spawn, but any compasses built inside always point way off in some other direction. I can't remember when this bug started, but it's still happening in 1.0. No one else seems to be complaining about it, so is it indeed happening to everyone?
I forgot to mention that it also usually fixes itself if I log out and back in; though not always. 216.232.215.121 02:05, 12 December 2011 (UTC)
I think this is the same Bug KnightMiner ref's. 2 entries after this; I find it generally puts me roughly 1,000 Blocks (this can be linear, or horizontal + vertical, a diagonal, so it depends on how I count) in the co ordinates, from the most usual, Spawn. It seems to hit me about 1 /10th of the time - yeah, going to the Nether, could easily explain that - and I tend to consider it a rare but important event, like the (re fixed) Zombie Sieges, take Extra precautions for that (make a new label at the "new," pseudo Spawn), too. With single player commands, apparently the compass will allow you to teleport through walls. Unfortunately, you NEED the correct version of single player commands to do it. –Preceding unsigned comment was added by CtelinAjira (Talk|Contribs) 20:03, 1 March 2012. Please sign your posts with ~~~~
I was playing single player after installing the redstone update , and noticed that the "north pole" of my compass has changed! I built a structure on the original spawn point and the new one is in a different biome. Anyone else seen this? 58.8.232.186 05:03, 15 March 2013 (UTC)
I am currently staring right a a bug where I got lost in the Nether and took the first gate I could find back to the Overworld, and now my compass says North is in the center of a jungle biome I have never seen before. Does anyone know if the Compass ever points to the South Pole as well? Like I say, I got pretty thoroughly lost. 50.99.41.189 20:54, 29 March 2013 (UTC)
The compass does not point north, it points to your world's spawn point, which is normally fairly near 0,0. If that has changed with the redstone update, it's a bug to report on Mojira. --Mental Mouse 21:22, 29 March 2013 (UTC)
I got a similar issue: my compass started to point a random place instead of my spawn point, fortunately not far from it. I committed suicide to check where I would respawn. I rezzed on my initial spawn point, and when I retrieved my compass it pointed to the right place again. 79.93.98.51 17:47, 1 January 2014 (UTC)
A good amount of users have suggested to split contents of this page to a separate page of lodestone compass. Also needs more info on the lodestone compass.--ShockingArtist (talk) 23:03, 25 March 2020 (UTC)
Pages are merged back together when in discussion.--ShockingArtist (talk) 12:48, 26 March 2020 (UTC)

Should we create a separate page or put the information here? JuanXDiego (talk) 17:58, 6 April 2022 (UTC)
Compasses can be enchanted with Curse of Vanishing in Bedrock Edition?
