Hey, I know nobody really looks at this page anymore, but I just wanted to know what happened to the hidden track, "Calm 4". For those who haven't heard it, search "Calm 4 secret Minecraft song" without quotes. It isn't on the list, and it's really cool. I've recently contacted Mojang's legal/branding department and got a reply in regard to some questions I had about what is and is not allowed in what types of YouTube videos. Here's a transcript of the email chain:

 You no doubt receive a lot of emails, so I'll keep this short:
 
 1. Under what terms has C418 established Mojang's use of his music?
 2. What effect does the above question have on YouTubers?
 a. Are YouTubers allowed to use Minecraft music in their videos when it is played from records or in the background in-game?
 b. Are YouTubers allowed to use Minecraft music in their videos when it is edited in as a backdrop to commentary, time-lapses or the like?
 c. Are YouTubers allowed to use Minecraft music in their videos when it is the exclusive audio-content of the video?
 3. Do monetized videos provoke any modification to what is/is not allowed above?
 4. With the upcoming Minecraft documentary, will YouTubers be allowed to edit in C418's music for that too? (similar to 2b)
 
 I have been unable to find the answers to these questions online. If you see fit to provide a response, I will post it on the Minecraft Wiki back-channels
 and edit where necessary so that it may be known.

 As long as you use the music in context with the game you should be fine. Monetizing by adding ads to videos is also cool with us.
 
 I'm not sure I understand #4 but it's obviously different to use 2PP's video/sound. They have the permission to use our assets for their movie.

I've just recently sent a follow-up email about question #4 where in the email I elaborate:

 It is my understanding that C418 is producing music for 2PP's documentary that will never be in Minecraft. If this is the case, will YouTubers be allowed

So, it appears that has hasn't been discussed and/or is outside Mojang's direct influence at this time.

Please edit the C418 page. "Where are we now" is working...but not in PC. There are 12 music discs in the Xbox 360 edition because, for some reason, 4J made "where are we now" work in the game. 69.203.156.229 01:11, 22 October 2012 (UTC)

On his blog, C418 revealed that he was releasing a beta soundtrack Because the wiki tyrants demand I don't edit this page, i will suggest that you change the column name from Soundtrack to Volume Alpha, then add a Volume Beta column when it is released.

I was on the user page 10 seconds before it was deleted, I went to the talk page, read it, came back to the user page, and it was gone. Tell me if you can figure out why.

Yes, the target of this article also has an account here (with only two contributions), but a talk page for an article about a person is not the same as a talk page TO that person. This talk page move was performed over two years ago when C418 was still new and someone apparently thought it was a userpage accidentally in the mainspace. I would like to fix it, but since this has gone uncontested for so long, I decided to make a post about it and see what people think. --Kanegasi ☺C 23:16, 19 January 2013 (UTC)

Almost everything here relates to the article, not the user, so moving it back seems reasonable to me. Ironically, by posting this on the article talk page, you made it impossible to fix yourself, as the article talk now has to be deleted to move the user talk page over it. -- Orthotope 08:56, 20 January 2013 (UTC)

My intention with posting there was to hit two birds with one stone by cutting the double redirect, didn't think about the actual move. Minecraft is not aimed at children. The PC version doesn't even have an official rating. The rating is irrelevant here anyways since there is no content policy for the wiki. If a Mojangster uses a curse word in a quote and it is relevant, more likely for their own page if it isn't, then it will be used fully. A very tame example is the internal name for the Nether biome, Hell. A few people have tried to censor it here in the past to no avail. In this case, I'm neutral with the removal of the quote since it is no longer displayed on C418's Twitter. —Kanegasi ☺C 08:38, 6 November 2013 (UTC)

Not that it's really important, but I would like to point out that the sample used in "Chirp" and "Orb of Dreamers" is sourced from Optigan disc 70013 "Bossa Nova Style", not disc 70021 "Latin Fever" as described under the Trivia section.

• Use this page on C418's website and this presentation that he gave at DevGAMM as sources of information about Daniel (specifically for the Biography section, but maybe for other parts of the article, as well)
  • Also, use photos from the above page and maybe use a couple of screenshots of him giving the presentations at MINECON 2012 and at DevGAMM
• Maybe mention his techniques for composing music (sparse melodies, building a library of motifs)
  • Use the aforementioned sources, as well as this Reddit AMA that he did in 2019
  • Use some interviews, as well
• Maybe add this screenshot to the gallery

Apparently C418 is back to making music! He is working for a game called Wanderstop.

In 2010, c418 released two Minecraft medleys called “Preview of Upcoming Songs 1” and “Preview of Upcoming Songs 2” they show clips of Minecraft songs most would be added to volume alpha and volume beta, but 3 songs from the medleys were unreleased.
