this feature was originally from the mod railcraft, this information should be in the history. i'd do it myself but i don't know how. 98.248.118.106 22:59, 11 January 2013 (UTC)
--Kanegasi ☺C 23:10, 11 January 2013 (UTC)TNT carts seem to explode when hitting each other hard enough, or when compressed into a small space so that the game percieves them as hitting each other hard. Both of these seem to take the rails with it, for whatever reason. Is this a bug, and should this be mentioned on the page? If so, where, and how? 24.98.148.16 19:33, 16 March 2013 (UTC)
Minecarts with TNT in them can be fused using the same bug that allows Minecarts to fuse and "fly" off the tracks. This can be used together with water to produce a human cannon. However, it seems to mainly only work vertically. I think this would make a nice trivia entry as it can blast players up to heights of 1000 blocks in a split second, and after 1200 blocks it decreases to a rate of 300 blocks per second for infinite heights. It slowly decreases in speed as it nears the upper limit of the blast, and you then proceed to fall at terminal velocity. I've made several in the same world for testing and have not installed any mods yet. I'm also running 1.5 (1.5.0). I'm working on making a world file for proof as well. --98.94.89.107 01:31, 18 March 2013 (UTC)
Oh I am soo mad a Mojang right now! They removed the ability to pile up TNT carts on one track! Now if you place a cart down, you can't place another on the same track. They need to revert it back! When is the next Version coming!? -SAUBER 19:44, 31 August 2013 (UTC)
I've read that it increases with velocity upon its activation but what's the exact equation for it because the way it's described right now isn't very helpful.--24.12.234.188 02:28, 26 November 2015 (UTC)
I tried a sort of interesting test. First, I made 4 TNT detonate simultaneously on a block of glass. The crater was about what you'd expect, 7*9*4 in a rough hemisphere.
Then, I tried using a nuke made out of 4 TNT carts. The crater was 19 blocks across and blew through the 5-thick glass layer like it wasn't there. Clear victory to the TNT carts in terms of destruction/TNT.
But then, I tried using the most durable destructable block in the game, endstone.
The 4 TNT minecarts barely did any damage at all. it made a 3x3 crater 1 deep in the shape of a plus sign.
The 4 TNT blocks, on the other hand, made decent damage A 5x5x2 crater.
Ergo, TNT blocks do vastly more damage against "hard targets," such as endstone or cobblestone bunkers, whilst TNT cart nukes do vastly more damage against "soft targets" like wood, glass, or dirt. –Preceding unsigned comment was added by 73.25.110.186 (talk) at 5:18, 11 August 2016 (UTC). Hmm. It does seem, however, that if the TNT cart is made to airburst, the damage done to endstone is quite wide, if only 1 layer thick, with an 11 block wide area mostly destroyed. –Preceding unsigned comment was added by 73.25.110.186 (talk) at 5:18, 11 August 2016 (UTC). This info needs to be added because it’s currently absent and I don’t know if it’s possible in Java. I’m not going to add info unless I know what’s bedrock and what’s Java. LukaMagic (talk) 06:47, 4 December 2025 (UTC)
add damage information : when the minecart is out the rail , the explosion reachs its peak
