Previous: "Do note that smelting is pointless with Nether Quartz Ore: with any level of Fortune enchantment, one can obtain more quartz by breaking the ore instead. The experience gain is at least 10 times higher too." Fortune does not increase the XP gain from mining blocks.
How are the thin strips on Ice similar to the thick strips of Nether Quartz ore? They are nothing alike. That piece of trivia is useless. 84.85.214.217 23:37, 3 January 2013 (UTC)
I agree. Nether Quartz Ore looks no more like Ice than it looks like the other ores. This "trivia" should be removed. --96.237.54.85 03:14, 5 January 2013 (UTC)
Should there be a bit of text reminding everyone of the fact that Nether Quartz Ore will not be available in Nether chunks which have already generated? MenacingBanjo 22:25, 7 January 2013 (UTC)
Will there be more nether ores? I think they should add nether equivilants to the overworld ores which are slightly better than their overwolrd equivilants because they are more dangerous to acquire
I went to my super flat world and used the portal and explored a LOT of Nether but I did not find any of the ore so I think it does not show up in superflat worlds like all other ores. 10.104.26.167 16:59, 21 March 2013 (UTC)PB57214
No I did not visit the Nether before. Ever. This was the first time I did so in that world. 10.104.26.167 16:33, 22 March 2013 (UTC)PB57214
Why on this ore (and other ones like coal ore) there is no information about xp drop when breaking ores?
What is the source for the block generation frequency chart, and what was the methodology? For nether quartz, if the measurement is simply the frequency in the world, the peaks at 10-15 and 110-115 could be explained by there simply being less open air at those levels, so more of it generates because there’s simply more solid blocks available to generate in. For players looking for optimal strip mining levels it would make sense to only measure frequency of non-air and non-lava blocks.
I think the Bedrock version sounds section is incorrect. There is nether gold, not nether quartz.
