I have found that flower noise, along with the other noise generators used for decorative terrain features, use simplex noise, and only have one octave. Flower forest noise repeats every 48 blocks. Biomes prior to Beta 1.8 also used two simplex noise generators, one for temperature, and another for humidity. Overflowing with simplex noise is much different than with Perlin noise; the overflow distance varies depending on the quadrant of the map and the coordinate on the other axis. Simplex noise is also used for the biome fill noise in modern versions (1.18 and later). When it overflows the noise values stay constant at a single value. Sunwukong3203 (talk) 02:27, 26 September 2024 (UTC)
