There seems to be another update regarding the mappings, made August 24, 2020. https://twitter.com/Dinnerbone/status/1297906606127095809. There is now a less restrictive license.

So Mojang just announced that they will be removing obfuscation from Java Edition entirely. This likely means that the maps will be removed as well, because they won’t be needed anymore. GamingBren (talk) 18:19, 29 October 2025 (UTC)
