I recently checked those pages, this one, and the experience page, and they don't mention it at all. Come to find out that this was changed from how it used to be, and the old references to this were deleted from the bodies of these articles, but without putting a mention in History that they used to. I know it was unintentional, it just felt like I was being gaslit. If someone could find out which version this change was made and add those to the history sections of all of these articles, that would be great, as I unfortunately don't have enough time to test this myself (the earliest revision I could find that mentions this change is this 23 July 2020 one, which means it was likely changed sometime during the snapshots of the Nether Update, but the date is a month after 1.16 was released and isn't noted in its changelog here, so I don't have a way to narrow it down any more than that). Update: Someone on both the Smoker and Blast Furnace talk pages (under "XP not halved?") said that they tested both 1.14.4 & 1.16.2 and the XP wasn't halved in either version compared to an ordinary furnace, so my initial assumption on the timing of this change was wrong, and that narrows things down significantly. Update 2: Just because I had a brain fart doesn't mean I'm going to pretend I never made said mistake. The earlier revisions are actually these 2 on the Blast Furnace and the Smoker pages. Not like it matters anyways since testing revealed that the latest possible date for these changes is almost a month earlier than these edits. Milo359 (talk) 03:50, 25 March 2024 (UTC)
make the recipes list use the smelting template similar to how crafting brewing and smithing do for consistency
Hey, I'd like to at least edit this out with reason and discussion on this.
If the creation of said fuel is what matters most according to the editor, then why not apply to all else besides the dried kelp block?
Say for example that if we were to apply this, then there shall be "Net fuel for charcoal is 7 because it takes one operation to make it" or "Boat's net fuel is 0 because it takes 6 blocks to make one boat to preform 6 smelting operations"
It's something off-putting about that one specific thing added to the dried kelp block -- feels as if it's just there for an edit of without purpose; en edit to edit.
I don't know if net should be apply to all else or just to simply remove it because it just that that one specific mention is just there just because. Hdmikle (talk) 15:38, 5 February 2026 (UTC)
