It is possible for a Snow Golem to be naturally generated in an Ice Plains Spikes biome due to the changes made in the 1.8.1 update. This being that Snow Golems can now generate sideways. Snow blocks naturally generate across the surface of the biome and if a pumpkin was to generate next to two horizontal snow blocks then a Snow Golem will naturally spawn.
This is evident in the seed -8194753951739883801 where if you travel to the co-ordiantes x= 995400 y= 72 z= 97344 a Snow Golem will spawn next to a Lake structure.
Note: Teleporting direct to 995400 72 97344 will not work as for some reason the terrain generates differently after doing so. In order to guarantee finding the snow golem you must teleport somewhere where the co-ordiantes 995400 72 97344 are out of range of your render distance. For example if you were using two chunks as your render distance you could teleport to 995300 72 97344 and then travel to 995400 72 97344 and the Snow Golem will spawn.

Snow golems in 1.8.8 don't seem to make trails of snow like they used to. Is it based on light level? I built a snow golem in a creative world near a cave with zombies in it in a plains biome, and it went for them, but didn't leave snow until it actually got into the cave itself. On the surface, built another, no snow. Got snow in the extreme hills, taiga, and taiga hills biomes during the day, but taiga indicates colder areas... --Azaram (talk) 21:28, 24 October 2015 (UTC)
The end of the Behavior section states: "Snow golems wear their pumpkin as a helmet, just like the player does," but I used the command "/entitydata @e[type=SnowMan] {}" and the ArmorItems tag did not have a pumpkin in it, even though the golem was visibly wearing a pumpkin. So is there any way to summon an already sheared snow golem?
Edit by Dmhadot7: You can summon it without a pumpkin with (/summon minecraft:snow_golem ~ ~ ~ {Pumpkin:0}) or if you want to use /data it is (/data modify entity @e[type=snow_golem,limit=1] Pumpkin set value false)
On 1.10, you could shear Snow Golems, WHY EVERYONE THINKS YOU COULD SHEAR SNOW GOLEMS ON 1.11?!--66.50.13.92 16:20, 3 December 2016 (UTC)
Can anyone tell me or put on the page what biomes support snow from snow golems?--Pxlop860 (talk) 08:51, 23 November 2019 (UTC)
Do we need to include giants in tables such as on this page? They aren't part of the game, really, and so is it or is it not necessary to list them in other pages as we are doing here? - AD OffKilter (talk) 02:15, 5 September 2022 (UTC) Edit by Dmhadot7: They consider entities and giants are entities and entities are part of the game.
For future reference, a snow golem is able to set fire to hostile mobs such as zombies. The following video was taken in 1.19.71, but it has existed since 2021.
