Each of the three audio files in the sound category play the same generic arrow sound, rather than a snowball one...?
Why did you put it in Category:Sprite? Wouldn't it be better in Category:Item(Which could include flint.)? --Demki 16:16, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
Anyone find it weird that it's classified as a weapon? I mean, it can kill slimes, but other than that, it's just to annoy people. --Master7342 You can use it to shear sheep, or knock nasty mobs away, or into a trap. I'd say its a weapon.Woodcock 12:39, 26 April 2011 (UTC)
It does damage, or you can at least damage yourself with it. Good thing I didn't have wolves when I tested that. Biofan30 15:14, 1 May 2011 (UTC)-- In vanilla Minecraft it doesn't hurt you. Timberdoodle 13:24, 5 September 2011 (UTC)
Lately, my friends and I used a vanilla server on creative to provide infinite snowballs. We all harassed a single zombie and caused it to die - 75.137.68.131 20:53, 21 September 2011 (UTC)

They do damage to Blaze's and Enderdragons, 16/7=2.5 hearts of damage to Blazes. Not sure how much they do to Enderdragons though. Edited the page.Jippiedoe 16:07, 17 November 2011 (UTC)
The trivia says it's the only thing in the game that requires a shovel to collect. This is not true - silk touching things such as snow blocks or snow layers needs a silk touch shovel ever since mojang made it so you need the appropriate tool to collect it. -I've also seen them lying around naturally in new chunks (because water spilled over the snow cover). I think that using buckets of water to clear the snow cover probably saves resources given that buckets can be infinitely used. (Also, the shovel page says that the only reason shovels are necessary is to make snowballs, which should probably be changed as well.) 22:58, 22 May 2014 (UTC)
I thought snowballs do damage? I accidentally killed a cow in a skyblock server when i got tons of snowballs from a quest reward and starting throwing them at the cow for fun. Unfortunately, That was my only source for milk which I needed since my island had a cave spider spawner.
I'm pretty certain they do damage, albeit minimal. Just try chucking a couple thousand snowballs at a mob and it will eventually die.
In MC-3179 re: throwables in PvP, there was a side-discussion about whether the feature was in the game at some point and then removed. It seems to be a Mandela effect situation, whereby several players (including myself) recall PvP snowball fights in vanilla, yet no-one can give a version number for when it worked. The obvious explanation is that it was a feature of modded servers. So who started it? Bukkit? Yoshirulz (talk) 13:26, 5 February 2024 (UTC)
The snowballs firerate isn't infinite
It says you can throw snowballs as fast as the player can click but thats wrong
I can't explain it correctly but the game does have a limit for how fast you can throw it, Maybe something about ticks? Sorry for not knowing but I would greatly appreciate if it was corrected
