Ideas for World Types

[edit source]
Latest comment: 6 February 20122 comments2 people in discussion

I've got ideas about new World types. Some ideas i've got:

  • Classic, A classic generation with the old biomes.
  • Skyland, A generation with floating islands and clouds under the world.
  • Mine, A generation thats you spawn in a mine with bedrock at top, bottom and trees, rarely.
  • Biospheres, A generation with large spheres, trees in it and glass around it. Also wooden bridges between the spheres.

That's all i got. If you have some more ideas, or have a question about the World types, please answer this section. –Preceding unsigned comment was added by Sirgustaf98 (Talk|Contribs) 12:16, 6 February 2012. Please sign your posts with ~~~~

A 'biosphere' mod already exists; see here: [1] -- Orthotope 13:08, 6 February 2012 (UTC)
That, and this isn't the place to post suggestions or ideas for future Minecraft content; you're looking for the Forums or Getsatisfaction. Cobalt32 15:27, 6 February 2012 (UTC)

This page should have the in-code names of each type

Came here looking for the actual in-code names of each type of generator because I'm nbt editing a world. Guess I'll just have to look elsewhere but I thought I'd leave a "to do" note for someone. –Preceding unsigned comment was added by WildBluntHickok (talkcontribs) at 13:54, November 10, 2016‎ (UTC). Do you mean the in-code names for flat / debug / default / large, etc?
those are: default / customized / flat / debug_all_block_states / largeBiomes / amplified. – Sealbudsman talk/contr 22:46, 10 November 2016 (UTC)

Should we document modifications that require a third-party tool as features of the game?

In this edit, a statement was inserted to say that Bedrock flat worlds can be customized to change the default terrain layers. This can be done with a third-party tool, but there is no in-game way to do it, so I don't think this statement belongs here. I mean, why mention it if you aren't going to explain how it's done? It will probably just invite questions that are better answered by the technical community, who have their own resources (Discords, blogs, YouTube, etc.) Besides, how far would we take it? You can use a third-party tool to change all the stone blocks of a chunk into diamond, or change a creeper into a rabbit, but I hardly think anybody would consider these "features" worthy of documentation on the wiki. Therefore,

Oppose documenting such modifications on the wiki by default, but if there's a consensus that in a particular case there would be enough interest to justify including a mention of it, we should at least require the mention to link to an explanation of how to do it. — Auldrick (talk · contribs) 22:59, 21 March 2021 (UTC)

This page is missing some world types.

The first is infinite, it is a bedrock and Java exclusive, so I think that world type should be added to the bedrock edition section. And flat is a bedrock and Java exclusive, it is super flat on JE, and flat on BE, it should be added to the bedrock edition section too.

That’s all.

Infinite is not an exclusive worldtype, and "flat" and "Superflat" are basically the same thing, so the information that is currently on the page is correct. BDJP (t|c) 22:46, 26 November 2021 (UTC)

Incorrect y-levels for superflat

Since the introduction of a new lower and upper world height limit, superflat worlds generate with bedrock on Y=-64, thus the surface is on Y=-60. I don't know if this applies to only Java or also Bedrock Edition.

You're right. Seems to be true for both. I updated it. - AD OffKilter (talk) 21:21, 7 June 2022 (UTC)

Caves and Floating Islands were once world types that were removed in 1.18, shouldn't they be on at least the changelog for this page --InvalidWord (talk) 11:30, 15 October 2024 (UTC)

small support --Whydeletemyaccs (talk) 00:42, 24 August 2025 (UTC)

Resolved

I suggest to add an indication denoting "Default" redirects here and linking the page of Mojangles, the font internally named "default"
